Fired From Prelaw Job?
Current 0L posting. I have a feeling that I might get fired or asked to resign from my post graduate job and I was wondering if this would this hurt my chances of landing a biglaw job/federal clerkship? I have 1 year of WE in the financial sector. Please note that my dismissal would not be due to misconduct or incompetence.

Shouldn't be an issue. Just don't use them as a reference.

Disclaimer: 1L.
No, I'd doubt it would shut you out from anything. When you're fighting against a ton of KJDs, any legit WE should be better than none, but your grades and your school choice seem to determine the bulk of your opportunities. I don't really see reason it'd shut you out of clerkship, in particular.
At any rate, if you haven't, start applying to other jobs. If you can cut the gap of unemployment so it appears you switched jobs willfully, that'd be ideal. Good luck either way, can't be a fun time.

Do biglaw firms ask if you have been fired/asked to resign during the application process?

If you are feeling so, then probably you should resign! Trust me, this has nothing to do with your future growth but yes it might hurt your motivational powers. Go ahead and file a resignation...Good Luck

Re: Fired From Prelaw Job?
It might. It depends on why you got fired.
It's more of a C&F issue. Make sure to disclose it to the bar when applying for admission. A friend of mine didn't disclose that he got fired from a summer job in undergrad when he was 19 and the bar found out somehow. He had to do an interview and everything to discuss it and why he didn't disclose it. He got admitted without any delay, but it was unnecessary stress.
