Apple laptop questions... Advice needed!!

Post by thisislife49 » Sat Jul 26, 2014 12:33 am

I am looking at an Apple laptop. Many have said the apple air would be good over the pro because it is light (which is good when carrying heavy books) and have said I would not need all the features the pro offers (such as editing, etc.) Is this true?

Also, what hard drive size, SSD, would be best for a law student who is writing long papers, case notes, outlines, etc.?

Does anyone think a CD burner or any other features are necessary? Also, can I connect a non-Apple monitor to my apple laptop when at home? If so, is there just an apple attachment to do this?

The Air is plenty for stuff like word processing, web browsing, emailing, etc.

If it's only going to be a school laptop, the smallest SSD will suffice; you'll never fill it up with documents, PDFs, etc. It's only if you want to start keeping a bunch of music, videos, pictures, or programs on the drive that you'd need anything bigger.

I gave up my built-in optical drive about three years ago and have never really missed it. I did get the $79 external superdrive, though.

You can connect pretty any external monitor to an Air. You can get an adaptor to go from Thunderbolt to VGA, DVI, or Displayport.
