Best Cloud Storage Service?
I plan to use cloud storage for all law school docs as backup when I start. Do you all prefer one over the other? Which one has the "biggest bang for your buck?"

I use tresorit for secure storage, Google Drive and Box for general storage. Google Drive caps at 15 gb, Box at 10gb, Tresorit at 5gb, for free accounts, that is. Dropbox caps at 2gb for free accounts. With the exception of Tresorit, I am certain that these services have apps that allow you to access your files from your smartphone. Happy syncing.

Biggest bang for the buck I can think of is Mega (50 GB for free), but I don't think it's as flexible as the others. For example, I don't think you can link the storage space to a folder on your desktop if you have a Mac.

I used dropbox because it links perfectly so I never have to worry. However, the one time I didn't lose it I lost 14 pages of a 25 page independent study. Trust me, use something!!!

Dropbox works really well and I've been using it since before Google shifted Docs to Drive. Plus, once you start school, you can tip all your classmates off to it in conversation then send them an invite which gets you more free space.

Do what? It's unlimited, you just have to utilize their ways to get free extra space.IgosduIkana wrote:Dropbox caps at 2gb for free accounts.

I've never bothered with it (or any cloud storage) yet to recommend it or know what features it might include, but thought I'd interject that Amazon Prime/Student comes with 5GB of free cloud storage.

Re: Best Cloud Storage Service?
There really isn't a "best" service with the well-known cloud services. It's more about which ecosystem you're already invested in. I like Dropbox because it's independent and functions like a folder on the HDD. Pretty sure others do that as well, but I was already into Dropbox before law school, so why change?
If you're heavy into Apple, they have a Dropbox-like service coming out around September.

Thanks all-- I currently use dropbox for my personal use and it sounds like one of the best options. I will be using an Apple laptop, so hopefully that program comes out in September otherwise I will have to try one that is more friendly with Apple.

Dropbox is already Apple-friendly (can link your Dropbox to a folder on the desktop, there's an iPhone app for it, etc.) I think what Kal was saying is that if you specifically wanted an Apple-branded cloud storage solution, one's coming. But if you use and like Dropbox, you can stick with it.thisislife49 wrote:Thanks all-- I currently use dropbox for my personal use and it sounds like one of the best options. Yes, that. They are revamping iCloud to be more like Dropbox.

Re: Best Cloud Storage Service?
I think GoogleDrive is the best (especially if you have an Android phone) for just documents. 15GB of documents is hundreds of thousands. You'll never run out of space. The GDrive folder on my PC is my favorite part. I can save something via Drive’s website while at work, and then open it up on my computer when I get home, without having to go back to Drive’s site. The functionality with my Android phone is great for those “Fuck I needed to email X.docx to this person—thankfully I can do that now via my GDrive app on my phone!”
