Patent Bar Exam
Can anyone that has taken the patent bar recently share their experience? Is the advice of reading a MPEP outline (and not the MPEP itself), taking old exams, and knowing how to search for answers in the MPEP still appropriate for the current exams? It seems like the days of having a ton of repeat questions are over, so I'm nervous that this sole way of studying isn't enough. Is there anything else you'd recommend doing to prepare?

Studying right now for with PLI. I have not heard anyone suggest that reading the entire MPEP is not a good use of your time. It's not written in a way to really aid comprehension if you don't have a foundation of knowing what the hell is going on. Also, some chaps are tested heavily (700/2100), while others are get one or none questions. PLI does recommend reading 1200 and 1800 twice beforehand, as well as making an outline of the section headings for 700 and 2100 to study, so you have an idea of where to go for lookup qs.
Someone on reddit took it a week ago and said there were 10-15% repeat questions, which is a lot lower than in the good old days.

Buy a membership to wysebridge.com and memorize the questions. It's the cheapest most efficient way. 50 of the 100 questions on my actual test were on that site word for word. Don't waste your time trying to "understand" the mpep. Ask any patent attorney, you'll learn what you need to know when you start working. The stuff they test are extremely rare circumstances.

If you have some experience with prosecution and some familiarity with the MPEP and how it's organized, then the approach you mention could work for you.kenwash wrote:Can anyone that has taken the patent bar recently share their experience?
