Legal Aid

Post by 123Law » Sat Jun 21, 2014 1:52 pm

Hey,

Would people who did Legal Aid (full-time job, internship, whatever) mind sharing their experiences please? Like how was the work environment, how much independence and autonomy you had, frustrating things, work schedule, flexibility, if you were ever bored, long-term career opportunities, etc...
Thanks

Thanks a lot!
Another thing is we didn't offer legal advice. Some legal aid offices have a more litigation oriented approach, so the attorney will actually deal with clients. We didn't really do that, but if we had, I would not have had the discretion to give my two cents on whether a litigant should do one thing or another. I simply laid out the options. At most, some interns toed the line by stating what they had seen judges do in cases where litigants had taken one approach or another.
Interesting. So could you describe more what you would do then please?

What made it so boring?
