Why do you want a degree pertaining to French law? The only thing I see when I look at this program is an extra year of paying tuition.

If you read the program description, you'd see that you're actually only paying 3 years of tuition for all four years (the last two are only half tuition each). The opportunity cost of one year is real, so it has to be worthwhile.OutCold wrote:Why do you want a degree pertaining to French law? If you have legitimate, specific interest in practicing on a regular basis on both jurisdictions, then it would be a really cool program. I'm doing the Global Alliance program, which will either be at SciencePo or Oxford, but that's only one semester and I still graduate in 3 yrs. I know one person who applied to this 4yr program, and they want to work in France after graduation.
Honestly, if you speak French, get a 2L SA at an good firm in NY and express significant interest, you pay get the same opportunities as the dual degree. Depends on your goals and personal circumstances.

Given that its 4 years of study, with the opportunity of gaining access to both the French and the American legal systems, how do you all think this program would affect job prospects post-graduation?

Definitely don't market yourself as 'international' outside of NY/DC, but the advice from this ATL article doesn't really apply as strictly to top schools, as noted repeatedly by the author.rayiner wrote:http://abovethelaw.com/2014/04/so-you-w ... etaboutit/ChiefMango wrote:What do you guys all think about this program below?

Depends on what you do. For most people, probably not worth it.

Apologies for missing that. However, the question is still relevant, and seems to be driving at the same point you are making. Assuming OP winds up getting a 2L SA, which is the only person who would really benefit from this anyway, he's leaving $160k on the table by doing this masters with marginal benefit at best. Lots of larger firms will give an option of an overseas rotation anyway. But as you pointed out, much of the benefit depends on OP's background and why he wants this degree in the first place.jbagelboy wrote:If you read the program description, you'd see that you're actually only paying 3 years of tuition for all four years (the last two are only half tuition each).
