Texas Firms – Hats
Last year as an SA I noticed that a couple partners always wore cowboy hats. I recall that an associate wore a cowboy hat for just a couple days… not sure if he just didn’t like it or if one of the partners said something about it…think JR Ewing, “did you make partner and someone forgot to tell me?” Anyone here from the west have an opinion on the protocol (assuming one exists)?
Some of our clients wear hats and (I am guessing) for that reason several offices have hat stands (mainly utilized for coats.).
Not just in the west. Even Harvard lawyers wear cowboy hats...

It's extremely rude and low class to wear a hat inside.

I'm neither a LS nor graduate, but as a Texas guy I'd never
a) wear a hat indoors
b) wear a cowboy hat to work since I'm not 50+

Cowboy hats look stupid unless you are an actual cowboy. Otherwise, you look like a douchebag.

I know lawyers who raise and ride horses, talk with a twang, and regularly wear blue jeans and boots to their firm...
and they still don't wear goddamn cowboy hats inside.

No. Just, no. Do not get a cowboy hat.
But do get a good pair of boots.
