What to do for 0L summer?

Post by killer133 » Sun May 11, 2014 7:50 pm

Hey guys I'm a 0L who's headed to law school this fall. Just got out of 5 yrs of military service two months ago, enjoying the freedom. However, since I know how tough it is to get jobs after graduation, I'm wondering if I should do any kind of legal/political/public interest work this summer as volunteer (don't know if that's even an option as 0L...), or should I just forget about it and enjoy the last summer I have before becoming 1L?

Any advice on what to do this summer? I've been doing ABSOLUTELY nothing but reading books/working out/traveling/sleeping for the past 7 weeks since my separation.

enjoy your summer. If you are moving to a new city, give yourself some time to move, get settled, and explore. Dont bother with doing anything except enjoying your time. If you feel that you must do something, start working on updating / making a resume.

Eat, sleep, drink, go to the beach, travel, eat and drink some more, etc etc.

Yeah, that's probably what I would end up doing since I found out most local DAs office or any internships available have been filled up by now...

Thanks, I probably will go to Europe for couple weeks for fun.!

You should totally go to Europe for a few weeks. I did the same thing during my 0L summer and I had a blast. Also, you wont have enough time or money within the next three years so I suggest to take the opportunity while you can.

Just booked a ticket to Rome in June. You're right, I probably won't have time/money unless I get biglaw summer position (even then no time) after I begin school. I have about $50K saved up and planning to spend about $10K in Europe! I get full ride from VA so I should be fine! Can't wait to have fun in Europe!
