Quick hypothetical question. I'm trying to make the decision of whether or not to go to law school right now and I'm wondering what everyone on here would do in my situation.
I'm currently finishing up my bachelor's in computer science and most likely will have the opportunity upon graduation to start a career making around $60,000-$70,000 a year with decent growth prospects and almost no student loans. However, I'm much more interested in the law, and would prefer to be a lawyer, all else being equal. My problem is the cost of tuition, and the uncertainty of finding and holding a job that will allow me to pay back what would likely be $200,000 - $300,000 in debt. I have a 175 and a 3.5 GPA, so I would be able to get into some good schools, and probably get some scholarship help in the lower T14, but it's just such a huge decision to take that much money out when I could have a decent career and make good money not doing it.
So yeah. What would you do in my situation?
If you could have a decent career without going to law school and taking out a mound of debt would you?

Re: Hypothetical
Why do you want to be a lawyer? Plans after law school? Interest in the law does not mean you'll enjoy working in the legal field.

Re: Hypothetical
If I were you I would at least apply and see what kind of scholarship offers I got. If I got a full ride at a lower T14, I would take it. I am not familiar with LSAT/GPA combinations needed for a full ride at a lower T14 school nowadays, but I would speculate that you would be competitive.

Re: Hypothetical
The 175 is good for 5 years from the year you took the test, so I would take a job your degree and see how you feel about things in 2-3 years. Not being a K-JD is almost never a bad thing.Kellanj wrote:Quick hypothetical question.
