I think a thread of current students and graduates that addresses this question could be insightful.
In my experience (lower T-14 2012 grad) it seemed that students with certain majors or work experiences had a real advantage at OCI. Those majors included finance, accounting, sciences, etc. It seemed like the people who majored in English or Philosophy, and then did public interest work like joining the Peacecorps or Teach for America, had a tougher time - perhaps because they were all pursuing litigation careers.

Re: Does College Major Matter?
The only difference I saw was that people with science backgrounds could apply for hard IP, and humanities-type folks obviously couldn't. But in terms of general firm jobs, grades trumped all, regardless of undergrad major. I think having some kind of work experience tended to help, but plenty of K-JDs did well, too.
(It's not a huge sample because I was in a small market at a non-T14, but FWIW.)
