Jumping right into it: I've searched for alumni of a school I've committed to attending who live and work in my city and it turns out that there are quite a few, or at least 10 more than I expected (which was none).
Would it be acceptable for me to email any of these alumni? Some are partners or senior associates at the local BIG or Mid-sized law firms but, naturally, those are the ones who graduated years before I was even born.
Is it worth emailing them to set up an informal meeting? At least one seems to have enough clout that, if we happen to get along, he could maybe lend me a hand after 1L. (Because PSA if you're homeless it's because you haven't networked enough, duh.)
Thoughts, opinions? What would any such email look like?
