Speaking from experience, I go to a TTT as well and was not able to get an internship with the PD office because of the better schools nearby. However, I went to the PD office in the city where my school is and was able to get an externship during the year because we are the only college in this city so there was much less competition. I know it is not as ideal as a summer internship, but if there is a PD office in your city and your school is the only one in the city, you would have much less competition doing an externship your 2L year.

Don't quit and not try for the summer, but if it doesn't work out remember you always have the next school year.
