Joe Jamail is worth $1.5 billion. He is worth more than all t-14 grads who are practicing lawyers.
Hope that helped.

I'm glad I posted here. Far better answer than those sarcastic inbreds at the Law school admissions section.

Lawyers CAN make 300k+. Is it likely? No. Either way, if you want that 300k+ you'll be working that 70+ hours.

You can't plan on making $300k/yr. If your motivation is money, you'll most likely get burnt out before you reach that level of success because the first years will be rough.

My purpose isn't money. If it was - I would have signed a contract with Barcelona last summer.

How about this: I answer your question, and then you acknowledge that it's been answered, and stop asking it over and over? I'm pretty sure you've already started a thread on this subject and had your question answered many times over. And people have already answered your question in this thread. But here it goes.CanIGetAnAmen wrote:What kind of law can make 300K or what law makes the most money.

The area of law in which the top lawyers make the most money is in class action plaintiff's work. This is when a lawyer represents a bunch of people who have all been injured and sues the company that injured them. The lawyer then receives 30-40% of the settlement, which can be in the hundreds of millions or even billions of dollars. But, and this is critical, most lawyers that do plaintiff's work make very little money. Think suing mom-and-pop restaurants for slip and falls.
The area of law in which the average lawyer makes the most money is big law. Big law firms represent corporations in major litigation and major transactions, like mergers and acquisitions. The starting salary at most big firms is $160,000 straight out of law school. In your 7th or 8th year, you can make around or more than $300,000. Partners make between $400,000 and $1,000,000 or more. But, and this is critical, most lawyers that start in big law wash out between their 3rd and 5th year and even fewer make partner.
As to average salaries for T14 grads, I'm not sure there are reliable figures. But at schools where more than 50% of the students get big law or federal clerkships, the median salary one year out will be about $160,000.
