Post by analytic_philosopher » Thu Nov 15, 2012 7:24 pm

Which is the best way to email your resume + cover letter (for mass-mailings, etc.)?

1. Resume and cover letter attached in separate pdfs.
2. Resume and cover letter attached in single pdf.
3. Cover letter in email body; resume attached.

I can't tell you which way is best, but I can assure you that there is a best way and that if you differ from it, you will lead a life of ignominy and humiliation.

You know what sucks? Super long emails. You know what sucks even more? A bunch of attachments.

A single PDF with the entire application package in it is the correct response. The email should be 3-4 sentences that say "I'm applying for job XX, enclosed is my application as a single PDF file. Should you require anything further, please let me know. Thank you for your consideration."
