Should I choose Wisconsin? UW 1L input preferred.
Ok all you 1L's out there, I have a few questions. 1. How competitive is UW during 1L? 2. Where is everybody from (and where did you come from)? 3. Finally, I am above the medians for this school. Is there anything about UW that makes it unique in such a way as to compensate for the fact that I will probably get accepted to higher ranked schools? What sort of case can be made for UW law as an inventment given my potential alternative options?

If I were you, I would be more interested in hearing input from 2Ls and 3Ls--they are the ones who know how UW students are doing job placement wise.

Rumor is that UW OCI was rough this year...

Are you from Wisconsin? Do you want to live in Wisconsin? How far above the medians are you? (i.e. getting to a "higher-ranked" school like Emory or Alabama won't help much if you want to stay in Wisconsin, but a T14 will).
I don't go to Wisconsin, but I have some knowledge of the situation there. It's about par for the course with all the similarly ranked schools. Biglaw is going to be very difficult to get. Sticker at one of those schools is a dangerous proposition. Unless you're in-state (or have a strong desire to go to WI), I would go to a school that gives me a huge scholarship.

For the most part, there is not that hyper competitive atmosphere here. There are obviously a few gunners but you're going to get that at any school. Everyone still helps each other out though. I missed a class and had no problems getting the notes from someone. Our small group also gets together like once every other week. So even though we are competing against each other, outside of class there isn't really that feeling.michaelm55 wrote:Ok all you 1L's out there, I have a few questions. 1. As for your third question, you can pm me if you want.
Also like others have said, its still way to early for us 1L's to make any comment on the job situation. Everything right now is about grades, 2L's would have a lot more to say on how OCI went for them.

It would help to know your other law school options.
