should i get e&es now or wait
so today only supplements are half off at aspen publishers with the code SUMMERSALE and there is a 1L bundle that with this coupon will be $75 for 5 E&Es, civil pro, contracts, crim law, torts, and prop, should i get all of these now or wait for my book list for school?

Might as well get them. Supplements can be pretty useful for understanding concepts and outlining so you're gonna end up getting some anyway.

If you've got 5 for $75, i'd say go ahead and buy them for the core 1L classes. I use e&e's very heavily (more so than others on this forum, who tend to like them for certain classes but not as much for others). $15 is a great price, especially for new current editions. You're not out much if you don't use/like one, and you can always resell them later too.

Thanks for the tip. I'm going to go buy my supplements from aspen now. I wouldn't do the 1L bundle though. From my understanding, there are specific commercial materials you want for each subject (i.e. Tribe, Con Law; Glannon, CivPro; etc.). At least this is what books like Law School Confidential and GTM say..

It's worth having them, even if you don't crack them open. You can always sell them again for more than $15, especially if they're new.

Yeah, given the title of the thread I planned to offer the standard calm down/stop gunning/wait until you're actually a law student comment, but at that price there's really no good reason not to go for it. I think they're usually like $40 new, so I see no downside.

I just wanted to say that the code gives 50% off of E&E single titles as well. I just got a Property E&E for $25 with free shipping. Thanks for pointing out the deal.

Appreciate it. To be certain, do I want Chemerinsky's "Con Law: Principles and Policies"?sambeber wrote:FTFYJetsFan1990 wrote:Thanks for the tip. I'm going to go buy my supplements from aspen now. Any other suggestions for contracts, property, and criminal law?

This is for the bundle. Put the code in at checkout for the half off.

They are very basic practice questions. They help you to issue spot.thederangedwang wrote:ill be honest, i really dont know what i bought..what are E&E's even? i just bought them cause everybody seemed to liked them and it seemed like a great dealdrmguy wrote:Buy them but don't look at them.
Their value will largely depend on your class. If your professor likes succinct, then E&Es are your best friend. If you professor wants an information dump, then E&Es will give you false confidence.
Edit: I wanted to write a "how to succeed in law school" thread, but I realized it would be like 3 sentences long. CATER to what your professor wants. There is no magic formula. This means asking your professor really early on. All my professors would probably recall me as the guy who only asked about the exam. This also means that someone's tip that the E&E is amazing might not necessarily be amazing for your class. Second/last tip, work as much as you need to. You will know if you aren't working enough. If you are lost then don't plan on getting an A.

Get used/2nd most recent editions. With the exception of Con Law, all of them will have 99% of what you need to know. There's no reason to spend way more for subjects where the law hasn't changed for decades (torts, property, Ks, civ pro (a bit here and there), crim).
