Hi all,
I am a rugby player, and I would like to continue to play in law school. But I also want to fully commit to and excel in law school. I have a GPA and LSAT that makes me competitive for most T10 schools. I want to know whether I can both play rugby and put in the time for studying that is necessary but not necessarily sufficient to earn top 1/3 or better grades. During the season I probably wouldn't study much on gameday, which is on Saturday. On practice days (Tuesday and Thursday) I could commit to 10 hours for classes+studying. On Sunday I could put in 8-10 hours of studying. On M-W-F I could put in 11-12 hours for studying+classes. I am good at time management and focusing on my studying when I am supposed to be studying. I am a moderately fast reader. I greatly appreciate any insight into the feasibility of this schedule that students at T10 schools might be able to lend. Cheers!

You might be tight weeks a memo/brief is due, and the two weeks before finals. But other than that, totally do-able.

I don't think I so much as opened a law school book a single saturday outside of finals period. However, you'll probably regret needing Saturdays off the week a memo or brief is due, and you definitely won't want to take Saturday off from law school work during finals. Really, don't commit to anything during finals and at least the week before finals, because you'll likely blow it off to study or do it but regret taking the time away from studying.

No problem at all. A lot of classmates will have families/other commitments and interests. You will be fine 1L. During 2L if you are on LR and/or try to work 15-20 hrs a week (a lot of us did that), then you will be very busy (but it still doable). Everyone needs an enjoyable distraction, be happy you have one. A few hours, even the Saturday before finals will help with stress management and if you are good at time management - you will be better for taking a short break EVEN DURING FINALS. I know that my classmates that did the best had things that keep them sane and happy.
