I was looking a little more closely at Chicago's "detailed employment data", and the fact that ~35% of the class stays in Chicago, while UChi's V100/NLJ250 placement has been consistently impressive (even the 45% they posted for class of 2011 was outstanding considering the circumstances), struck me as interesting. Typically Kirkland, Mayer, and Sidley are the "big 3" in Chicago, and they obviously can't absorb all of that 35%. So, to current/past UChi students, where do the rest go? Chicago offices of NY or LA-based V100/NLJ250 firms? Boutiques? The school's small class size makes it difficult to figure it out (even going through NY firms, the dispersion of grads amongst 2012 SA classes is immense).
Thanks!

Re: Where do UChicago grads end up?
There are plenty of other firms in Chicago. Jenner, Winston, Baker & McKenzie, and Schiff are native to Chicago. Latham, Skadden, Paul Hastings, and Jones Day all have pretty big offices here. Then there are boutiques like Banner, Neal Gerber, etc.So, to current/past UChi students, where do the rest go? Chicago offices of NY or LA-based V100/NLJ250 firms? Boutiques?
