Hey guys! Last year I turned to this website for a lot advice and support. My final choices were between GW, Georgetown, and Michigan Law, after absorbing a heartbreaking rejection from Columbia. I picked GULC (Georgetown University Law Center) largely because of Curriculum B (an alternative first-year curriculum offered exclusively at Georgetown). It was the best decision I've ever made in my life-- and though Columbia is an excellent school, I am so thankful CLS rejected my ED application. However, I'll admit, I chose Curriculum B largely on blind faith because it sounded cool... but, the descriptions were vague and I didn't feel I knew what I was actually jumping into. Thus, I was nervous about how this would end up altering my law school experience and employment prospects.
I am happy to take questions on anything related to the application process, choosing between schools, my experience at Georgetown, or Curriculum B. I don't pretend to be an expert in any way, just happy to share the perspective I've gleaned from making it through to the other side, and concluding my first semester.
Best wishes! And don't worry... even if it's stressful now, it really does work out.

I'm in law school. But I've always wondered: What's the word on what employers think of curriculum B?

0L seconding this. Obviously you wouldn't have experience in dealing with employers, but do you have any idea how 2L/3Ls who did curriculum B have fared? Are most in your classes hoping for PI/gov?Geist13 wrote:I'm in law school. But I've always wondered: What's the word on what employers think of curriculum B?

Re: GTown (Curriculum B) 1L taking Questions:
Here's one... I've been admitted to Gtown and am leaning toward accepting. My primary concern, however, is cost of living and housing for my family (I'm in my thirties and have several children). The thing I have going for me is that I will still be receiving my salary as a naval officer, including a housing allowance (approx $2500 / month). Do you have any advice for where I could look at good housing options? Do you know any other law students there with large families that I could talk to?
Thanks!
Thanks!

Re: GTown (Curriculum B) 1L taking Questions:
3L here. Employers do not view Curriculum B negatively at all, and in fact it has often been a conversation starter or at least a topic and many who don't know about it are fascinated. Your grade, in the end, is more important. Placement in big law and elsewhere is juts as strong as that of other sections (if not stronger, because historically the section has had a higher GPA cutoff after 1L year for Top 10/15/Third than any other). It's generally evenly split between big law, public interest, and government. So that should not be a concern. GULC has obviously kept an eye on this statistically since it started this curriculum, and there's no concern.
