Are you a native Nebraskan? How do you like the law school? What is the culture like?

I am not a native Nebraskan. I grew up and went to college (mostly) in Iowa. I like the school quite a lot. The teaching is very good, the facilities are quite nice (pictures here: http://dochawkeye.blogspot.com/). Lincoln is a great town to live in (and cheap!). The culture is quite collegial and warm. It is not competitve at all. The class is small (about 130) and you have at least one class with every other person in the class (probably two classes, since everyone is grouped together in Legal Writing and Research).Broncsfan wrote:Are you a native Nebraskan? Re: Nebraska 1L Taking Questions
I'm afraid that I don't know these specific statistics. I knbow that many of the county attorneys in Nebraska are UNL (That is, University of Nebraska at Lincoln) grads. I do get the sense that overal employment prospects are stil pretty good. Nebraska dominates the Lincoln/Omaha markets. It seems to place pretty well in Denver and Kansas City. Out state Nebraska is desperate need for lawyers as well, so if you want to practice in a small town, you can do that. Career services has brought in a number of alumni who are practicing in a wide range of fields.Broncsfan wrote:Thanks for taking the time to answer questions.

I don't have Medill for property, I have Duncan, so no, I didn't. Did you enjoy the class? I understand that they're quite different in their approaches.Tom Joad wrote:Did you see me sitting in on Medill's Property class last Friday?

I live in Omaha and commute to campus so I haven't been. It's on my to-do list.Flash wrote:How often do you go to La Mexicana for margaritas?

Re: Nebraska 1L Taking Questions
I don't get out for steaks very often (because I'm a broke student) but Misty's ranks pretty high and I'm also a big fan of Lazlo's in the Haymarket (although not strictly a steakhouse).biglaw$ wrote:Best steak house in Omaha?
