New Dean at Case is Awesome
The new dean at case just sent out this email:
"As you all know, we have initiated a policy whereby students awarded scholarships lose that financial aid if their GPAs drop below stated minima. As of June 1, when I officially take office, that policy will be suspended indefinitely for all currently enrolled students and all newly admitted students. Just to be clear, this means that students will keep their scholarships for as long as they remain students in good standing. Of course I encourage all students to work hard and to do as well in law school as they can!"
This is super nice because this past year Case gave scholarships to over %90 of class and significant money to most students. So, you can imagine how things looked when the students realized more than half the students' funding would be lost because of the curve. Dean Mitchell made everything right though, as his first act as dean. He definitely just bought all the students' support.

Good. I wouldn't want my education to be financed on the broken dreams of my classmates.grash wrote:All this means is next year there will be far fewer scholarships awarded.
Building my financial future on other people's broken dreams can wait until AFTER I graduate from law school.

Class move. Maybe recent coverage of scholarship stipulations will make other schools realize they can't shaft their students as well.

Definitely doing this admitted class a solid. Case still would've left me with about 120k so unfortunately had to withdraw even though I liked the place.

Not for nothing, but their stips were pretty light before, and even allowed for half schollies if you fell below the stip. I got the email, still not going. Also, if youre in the bottom half or third of your class, taking the money from you and forcing you out might be a favor. But yeah, good for those of you who benefit from this.
