Yeah, pretty likely. Last year it was in the afternoon. Also a couple professors I've spoken to have stated that they'll be out Friday.RedPurpleBlue wrote:So, grades are likely to drop this Friday?

I think overall its supposed to be 3.33carsondalywashere wrote:Median for 1L classes is 3.35, correct?
Professors each have some leeway if they want to maximize the curve, I think they can push it up to 3.4

It varies. It’s supposed between 3.3-3.4 based on the 1L grade distributions I think. It’s never published and they don’t tell employers. If your around those numbers you’re around median, but you won’t if you’re above or below if you’re close. It will likely be higher after second semester with 1Ls taking upper level classes with the 3.55ish curve.bond232518 wrote:I think overall its supposed to be 3.33carsondalywashere wrote:Median for 1L classes is 3.35, correct?

Doing a visit to Northwestern in a few weeks. Planning to do a tour and also sit in on a class? Any recommendations from current students for a Monday morning class? I'm interested in both IP and corporate law. The schedule hasn't been updated on the admissions website yet. Thanks in advance.

I'm assuming it's in our interest not to let employers know the GPA median for Northwestern?yyyuppp wrote:It varies. It’s supposed between 3.3-3.4 based on the 1L grade distributions I think. Yep. And they'll appear a bit before the registrar's email announcing that grades are posted (to my recollection).carsondalywashere wrote:Do they get posted on Caesar?daisrt wrote:Yeah, pretty likely. IP meets Monday mornings from 9:50-10:45 in room RB140. Probably your best bet.Eleven wrote:Doing a visit to Northwestern in a few weeks. Planning to do a tour and also sit in on a class? This is from, like, 2011:bond232518 wrote:Anyone have a rough idea of GPA to class rank? I know we dont rank but...
It's out of date. My guess is that if you add a 5 to each rank you're a bit closer to reality (so 4.00+ = top 10ish people, 3.85+ = top 15%, etc.). But again, it doesn't matter.rayiner wrote:Handy-dandy GPA/class-rank break down, for after 1L:
4.00+ - top 3-5 people
3.85+ - top 10%
3.75+ - top 15%
3.65+ - top 25%
3.50+ - top 35%
3.30-3.40 - median
3.20 - 3.30 - slightly below median
3.00 - 3.20 - quite below median
This is very approximate, but it doesn't really matter because firms don't try to divine your exact class rank.
Nobody really knows what the bottom half of the curve looks like, because the curve is not symmetric.

Hello! How would I go about getting in touch with a Northwestern law student? I'd love to interview someone and possibly write about our conversation in my "Why Northwestern" essay. I'd really appreciate it

Hi,
I am looking for some insight concerning Northwestern's JD/MBA program. I have been accepted into the JD program for this upcoming fall, but I would like to know if it is possible to join the JD/MBA program as a 1L, or must I formally apply to the program by the third round deadline (April 11, 2018)?
Thanks,

You can apply as a 1L but my impression, which is outdated, is that it’s as hard or harder to get into the JD/MBA program after you start as a 1L.D1toTier1 wrote:Hi,

I wouldn't stress too much about your Why Northwestern essay. It also might be more valuable, and less time-consuming, to talk about a specific professor/concentration/program that's relevant to your experience or interests, or any geographical ties you have to Chicago/the Midwest.foodlaw wrote:Hello! Just PM two people in this group and ask a specific question. Then you can say you've "spoken with multiple" northwestern students about X, and how that excites you to do Y.taco bell breakfast wrote:I wouldn't stress too much about your Why Northwestern essay. Markell gave out multiple C's and Kaidens gave someone an F. I didn't know grades under B- was a thing here.

C's are discretionary. It happens. Not sure how true the F rumor is though. Kadens is tough but she loves her students. I don't think she would willfully fuck someone over like that.Gus Fring wrote:Markell gave out multiple C's and Kaidens gave someone an F. I didn't know grades under B- was a thing here.
