Re: PT 1L taking questions.
How overwhelming is your schedule? Do you think you can sustain it for a couple years?
I'm concerned if the extra money/reduced debt/more time at my job pros outweigh the missing traditional schedule/overwhelming time commitment/lack of family time cons.
I also have the pleasure of already commuting 50 mi each way which is a time suck to add in...

How has the total workload been compared to your expectations? Are profs understanding of people having full time jobs when it comes to being prepared for class?

Workload has actually been a bit less than I was expecting going in. Prof's expect you to be prepared for class just as they would a day student. One of our Prof's was actually shocked when she asked how many of us worked full time and most of the class raised their hand. They are mostly full time faculty and treat our class the same as their day class. (Which is a good thing in my opinion.)OrdinarilySkilled wrote:How has the total workload been compared to your expectations? It certainly makes for long days, but I actually enjoy it for the most part... The worst part of my day is sitting in traffic on my way to class after work. I live and work about 30 miles from school...sra_sundance wrote:How overwhelming is your schedule? Do you think you can sustain it for a couple years?

I get up at 5 every morning to work out, head to work at 7:30 and leave for class at 4:30... 4 nights a week (Friday is short night, out at 8 ) Otherwise class goes until 9:20. I usually go to the library one or two nights a week until it closes at midnight. Typically I will spend Saturday or Sunday afternoon at the library as well. The key for me has been to stay ahead of my reading....
I have a wife and 9 year old (I have been out of college since 2003)... I don’t see either of them as much as I would like, but I have made all my sons football games on the weekends and spend as much time as I can with them on Wed nights.. On nights I don’t go to the library I am in bed by 10:30 to get in extra Sleep.
