Agreed. We've had 2 pretty serious allegations against lacrosse players in the last few years, and one of them was an unsubstantiated witch hunt with no conviction. How does that compare with the hundreds of DUIs, gun incidents, rapes, and nightclub fights in basketball and football? I don't see you making any blanket statements about football or basketball players based on the behavior of people like Ben Roethelisburger, Gilbert Arenas, Plaxico Burress, Pacman Jones, etc. etc.

I don't think this incident says anything about lacrosse players as a whole.

Sorry. I am unrepentantly incredibly callous, but that might have been a tad too disrespectful. I don't mean to project on to the victim in this paticular case, but I have a passionate hatred of the "dead white lady" news staple, and some times it leaks out in inappropriate ways.

Why are we talking about this UVA student rather than this case? Why is it a horrible tragedy when a rich white girl dies, but just another day when a brown lady in Flatbush gets killed?

When nancy grace starts crying on TV about Black and Brown people getting murdered in Baltimore, I'll start to give a fuck about college students getting murdered; deal?

In fairness to your post, you are correct that his playing lacrosse has nothing to do with what he did to this girl. That said, when I read "breed of dude", I could only assume he meant "rich, entitled little twat who thinks it's okay to hit women."

(Not to say that poor kids who play basketball or baseball or something can't be guilty of the same cry and equally worthy of ire.)
