also interested in this, if someone is PMing. super ok with wheelbarrows of cash though.
I call following the wheelbarrow in case some drops out!
you should probably call them "Dillard Scholars" when asking around; most people in the law school use "Dillard" to refer to "Dillard Fellows" which are not the same thing.

I believe 1L Dillard Scholars get a $5K stipend and a faculty mentor (in addition to the full tuition scholarship) but I could be wrong on that.
In response to the question about the Dillard Scholarship, there's no stipend (unless I'm totally missing a perk of the program) but the scholarship does cover all tuition and fees. There's a Dillard Committee and you're assigned a faculty mentor, but I honestly haven't accessed mine that much. He's there if I need something, but I've mostly relied on my 1L professors thus far. That will likely change if I decide I want to target a prestigious clerkship since my mentor has some great connections. Feel free to message me if you have more questions.

Is it at all possible that I will be able to get into Collins' evidence class through SIS add/drop?

Most likely. I got in off the waitlist two years ago (can't remember my number but it was high, maybe in the teens or 20's). You might have to wait till add/drop is nearly over. There is a lot of church in big classes like that, but people don't necessarily drop until they've secured their other courses.

Anybody know what the grades on papers for Schauer's jurisprudence mean? I got a number and a + sign and I don't know how I should be feeling.

I suppose I could ask him, but I figured I'd try here first.

Okay cool, thanks.

I guess there's still no way to know how we're doing on the curve though, that's a shame. Unless 5 is the median or something? Why isn't this in the syllabus.

What is the rule for potentially having a class with a higher than 3.3 average? If (1) the class average is higher and (2) it's less or more than X number of students? Or just (1)?

just curious, what's the deal with becoming a TA for a professor? do you just need to have done very well in their class and ask them personally?

probably? don't think there are a ton of TA's in the traditional sense in the law school other than in LRW. sometimes profs will post on symplicity for RA openings which is a more structured approach than what you've outlined. RA'ing is probably a little different than what you're asking about (more research oriented), but maybe not.

Yeah I have actually not come across a TA in any of my classes. Unless its completely behind the scenes.

i know some teachers use RA's to update powerpoints and stuff which i imagine is basically what a law lecture TA would do if they existed, but yeah seems rare

Professor Abraham had a TA for Torts at least a few times, but I don't know if he is still doing it. The TA led study groups/review sessions. It was pretty great.

I don't know if TA is the right label (though I think the prof has described them that way), but for Contracts the prof has several 2Ls to review our written assignments and discuss them with us in small groups. I guess I can just ask one of them next time we meet.

Are there law students in the frats at UVA? A third year at my firm insists it's doable but I have my doubt.

I'm guessing you aren't a UVA student or you'd know that the law school is basically one big frat (or 36 frats for each section including the 2L and 3L former sections, however you want to picture it). I don't know why you would need (or want) to be in a frat as a law student.
