IMO the OUTlaw et al "coalition" response is fine. Unequivocal but not retarded. The KKK email was just retarded.

FedSoc does this shit every year. When I was a 1L, they brought in a woman speaker for a completely unnecessary speech on "Presumed Guilty: Feminism, Gender Politics, and False Accusations of Rape."

Not sure if other people didn't notice this in the long thread of emails now supporting the coalition, but the email announcing Chipotle called Chick-Fil-A "Hate Chicken." that's fucking hilarious.

Re: Northwestern 1L/2L/3L/Grads Taking Questions and Challenges
The updated synopsis, from around dinnertime last night till now:
> A coalition of campus diversity groups (OUTLaw, DivCo, NU Dems, etc.) send an e-mail encouraging people to come to the event and demonstrate a pro-equality message. Everyone is encouraged to wear purple to support LGBTQ, and to NOT eat the Chick Fil-A. The coalition will provide an Alternative Food table, which would also act as a "safe space" for those who feel oppressedby the chicken by the panel or audience members.
> A rush of student groups hurriedly send e-mails supporting the coalition.
> The coalition announces that they will be having Chipotle "as an alternative to hate chicken" at the Alternative Food table.
> Much rejoicing and high-fives.
> This morning, JRCLS (which I believe is the Mormon group) sends this:

> 3L sends response to JRCLS:JRCLS is an organization committed to religious freedom and to civil discourse. We hope that at the Federalist Society event today, there may be respect on both sides of the debate towards those with differing views.
As the main issue is debated, it is important to not overlook related issues. There are many religions with fundamental teachings that marriage is only between a man and a woman. There are other religions that support same-sex marriage or are neutral on the issue. Individual's fundamental right to religious freedom on the issue of marriage must be maintained, regardless of legal decisions. Recently, there have been instances of individuals dismissed from their employment and otherwise punished, for voicing their religious beliefs. “All of this shows an alarming trajectory of events pointing toward constraining the freedom of religious speech by forcing it to give way to the ‘rights’ of those offended by such speech," said Elder Dallin H. Oaks who is a religious leader in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and former law professor at the University of Chicago Law School.
Religion has been and is a great benefit in our society. Elder Oaks also said that, “Many of the most significant moral advances in Western society have been motivated by religious principles and persuaded to official adoption by pulpit preaching. Examples include the abolition of the slave trade in England and the Emancipation Proclamation in this country.”
> Anyone who doesn't care, or is brave enough, will have plenty of Chick Fil-A to eat. It's a shame that people have been punished for voicing their religious beliefs - I mean, that's an inextricable part of your identity. That's wrong. I can't imagine our system allowing someone to be denied something so basic just because of their identi... oh wait nvm
also i'm not even mad about religion but I kinda feel like to strengthen your argument you should include some examples of religion doing good that aren't 150 years old #justsayin

I don't see what the big deal is -- they served delicious fried chicken and watermelon at their discussion of Brown v. Board of Education.
But the toilet wine they served after their symposium on the Innocence Project wasn't as good.

I almost thought this was about Texas when I first saw it considering our Federalist Soc also served Chic-Fil-A at a recent meeting.

How seriously on a scale of 1-10 do you need to take yourself to call Chick-fil-a "Hate Chicken?"
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
