Are there go to "gunner free" classes for 1L spring? If so what, and what (if any) are the consequences of taking them.

Perhaps better tangent question, are there any classes employers will question you for not taking 1L spring if you want to go into a particular field? (as in if you want lit/corporate/criminal and don't take X)

I found the spring courses you take to have an underrated effect on OGI performance. You'd definitely look foolish taking two transaction-y classes to then tell employers you want to litigate. I think the same is absolutely true for the reverse (i.e. evidence and fed courts and then telling firms you want corporate). So, don't be dumb with your spring courses.

as far as gunners go, you can bet that they'll be in fed courts with caleb nelson

I don't think 1Ls can even take Fed Courts (pretty sure Con Law is a prerequisite), so that's at least one class not to worry about.

How hard is it to get into the following classes as a 1L?

-Bankruptcy

I realize some of these (bankruptcy I think??) are contingent on pre-reqs, but I think the others aren't. Thank you much.

I don't know why you wouldn't want to take trial ad. 3 credits for one afternoon a week, at least in my section it's been about one hour of prep per week or less. There's one big project toward the end of the semester, but that looks like it could be doable in 10-12 hours. Class is light and fun, a great break from doctrinal lectures. Unless you just hate public speaking.

To be honest, I really want to take a class with Molly Shadel who I love instead. (Most likely Advanced Verbal Persuasion)

ALso pissed that all the good trial ad profs my friends told me to take are closed because of that bullshit professional skills enrollment back in July. Jesus fuck, does properly signing up for classes here really require me to be 3+ months ahead of the game?

Yeah, they need to limit that to just PR. There are about 800 professional skills courses, don't think they need to protect enrollment in them.

Also, how is the curve? NOt necessarily difficulty of class but difficulty of getting an A. Do these classes attract Law Review types?

Curve will be fairly standard in all of those courses.

Smaller apartments on Arlington are good too - Woodard Properties owns a few of the buildings now, others are smaller scale operations. It's maximum convenience, you can easily walk to the law school and to barracks.

None of these things should factor into where you live. You will have equal access to all of them unless you live far away.

Yes. So many people clamored to live there that Woodard was offering to pay the first month's rent on the townhouses and they lowered the monthly rent over 100 dollars. And yet theyre still empty. lolstudents

Let me preface this by saying I've already read most of the posts involving the search terms "housing at UVA."

I actually like the layout of Ivy better than Jeffersonian, I figure that open space near the kitchen would be great for a large tv and a sectional. Plus the cost difference between Ivy and Jeffersonian appears negligible and my priorities, in this order, are grades, booze, girls, premium channels and sportscenter, food, not driving at all/not walking more than 10 minutes to school, and sleep. Since quality of my place is not one of my priorities, I figure that Ivy would be fine. Should I even visit other places when I stop by Cville later this fall?

2. You are close to nothing except other people living in Ivy if you live there. If you don't want to drive anywhere, you shouldn't live at Ivy, unless you want to take the bus to the grocery store.
3. Ivy has the worst internet/cable provider you can imagine. I was so happy when I moved and got Comcast, which should tell you something because comcast is terrible.

I hate Comcast more than Joffrey Baratheon and seeing Brody's family, every goddamn episode, combined, so #3 alone pretty much kills Ivy, but #1 is also a deal breaker. That's disappointing, I really thought I wouldn't have to deal with the midnight submission that is required by Jeffersonian, but it looks like that's my best option. Thanks for the tip.

If you strike out, there are plenty of great options on the other side of Arlington Blvd. That's where I live. Prices are very close to those at the Jeff, and the apartments are really nice IME. Ivy is too far from the grocery store.

There's plenty of non-Jeffersonian and non-Pavilion places on Arlington that are great spots. Woodard Properties has some townhomes that are pretty good.

Is the PILA Auction a can't miss event? Family is going to be in town that weekend and bought tickets for the basketball home opener on the same night. Was wondering if any 2Ls or 3Ls could advise as to whether I would absolutely regret skipping the PILA Auction or if it's not a big deal.
