How come -- you mean just because the curve is higher than one off grade won't make the GPA look horrible? I don't know UVA's curverayiner wrote:I think Vulcan has it backwards. UVA has no A+, although it's overall A range is similar. Compare two students over four classes. Student A's exams are top 5%, top 5%, top 10%, top 25%. Student B is top 12-15% in each class. At both places, student B would have a 4.0. At NU, student A would have a 4.08 (2 A+, A, A-), better than student B. At UVA, student A would have a 3.92, worse than student B.zugzwanger wrote:How come -- you mean just because the curve is higher than one off grade won't make the GPA look horrible? Asked my CSO about these last week. Got a response this morning saying they'll be up next week. Anyone want to put money on whether they beat the July 4th holiday?M458 wrote:Maybe if we're lucky we'll get it after OCI.LRGhost wrote:lolzugzwanger wrote:word on the street is OCS is burning the midnight oil trying to get the career data out to us before sunrise tomorrow

They'll probably release the data in tandem with the fireworks -- The Stars and Stripes Forever!

Those numbers are post 3L. The 1L curve is probably pretty similar to this:bricktemplar wrote:Wait. Are these numbers for post-3L, or post-1L? I.e., if Coif is > 3.96 at graduation, does anyone have any idea what the top 20%, 10%, top 5%, etc., grades are after 1L year? (I know someone's posted a rough breakdown some pages back, but it seems like you guys are suggesting this 1L class has inflated even further...(!))
4.00+ - top 3-5 people
3.85+ - top 10%
3.75+ - top 15%
3.65+ - top 25%
3.50+ - top 35%
3.30-3.40 - median
3.20 - 3.30 - slightly below median
3.00 - 3.20 - quite below median
I don't think the inflation growth they speak of goes to 1Ls as much. They haven't changed the curve for our doctrinal classes since then, so it can't have changed too much (indeed if you math it out and assume certain things about the correlation of top grades from one class to another, you arrive at roughly the same thing posted before).
The inflation comes from all the clinics, practicums and seminar classes that are A+ guaranteed.

Professor Steven G. Calabreezy-off-the-heezy-fo-sheezy (the G stands for Gangsta) co-founded FedSoc and was a Scalia clerk. Dunno how much of a role that plays, but probably doesn't hurt.onionz wrote:Is that 3 years in a row for Scalia? Do we have federalist society connections?

Not that it particularly matters, but any word on when the '14/'15 class schedules will be posted?
