Again, I am a 2L, and from going through OCI this year, I got the impression that not many people outside of the top 25% were getting Big Law callbacks/offers. The market is still very tight, and firms are hiring less SA's all around. People with good interviewing skills in the top 10% had no problem getting 10+ callbacks, but people with good credentials (top 25%, other journal besides LR) were not faring as well. They might get ~5 callbacks, with only a few of those being firms that paid market.
I am a Texas resident and a military veteran, so I'm considering UT just because I might be able to get a tuition waiver under the Hazlewood Act.
However, I'm really worried about getting a job afterwards.
Why do you think the BigLaw callbacks from UT are so sparse? I was under the impression that UT was #1 for BigLaw in Texas, but do you think that any schools outside of Texas might have an advantage over UT, at least at the elite firms?
IF I practiced in Texas, I would prefer to work in Austin or San Antonio. What types of Biglaw opportunities do these cities have? Or does Dallas have most of the best legal jobs? Thanks for the info.
