im interested in the jd/mba program. i noticed scu business school is ranked. any idea about the job prospects for jd/mba from scu? im interested in ip trademark & copyright with an mba. do you know anyone going for the joint degree? if so, what do they think?

I'm still waiting to hear back from a couple schools, but there's a good chance I'll be going to Santa Clara considering they gave me a good chunk of money. I checked out the campus a week ago and was pretty impressed with how nice it is.

What's the SCU student population like?
Law Students: Average age? General political attitudes? Thursday night events? General community feel?
All SCU students: I've heard SCU is filled with spoiled pretentious rich kids. is this true to any degree? Can SCU kids get down and party?

What's your single favorite thing about going to SCU?

What are some specific areas around campus or around the general Santa Clara area that are best to live in (close proximity to good restaurants/nightlife/interesting activities)?

I'm also curious as to the event/social atmosphere of the school. Are there like softball/flag football teams? Clubs/events that focus more on social than law activities? (aka outdoors club, karaoke nights, 3-on-3 basketball tournament, stuff like that) do students typically hang out a lot outside of class? (bbqs, get togethers, etc...)

welcome to the real world, not every graduate from every school is going to find legal work. if you are going into law school believing this to be a fact, then you might want to give yourself a reality check

dedicate yourself to good grades year 1, dedicate yourself to networking/finding a decent summer gig year 2, my money says the odds of you ending up waiting tables goes down substantially

I am looking for a studio apartment that is kinda accessible to the campus (by public transportation, or walkable)
Do you have any recommended place of where to live? The apartment and the company name?

Is it possible to wander around the city before the school start (3 weeks ahead) and find the apartment?

Joy. When I found my place, i looked through craigslist. I found a nice place near campus that was very affordable. If money isn't an issue, then Domicilio is amazing but also 1000+. I share a nice townhome with another law student for 1500$ a month. 750$ a month is what i pay and i live very close to campus. good luck!

Its always amazing to hear an actual student from the school say that by working your ass off you can lower your odds of waiting tables at the Cheesecake Factory substantially. I wish I understood the definition of substantially.

Most of the people in my class have found work (especially the one's that REALLY put in the work, got good grades, have life experience on their resume, etc...) the students who jacked off and didn't do shit are having trouble finding work

I bet the people that jacked off, say they study hard but don't, and are shocked that they are below median, are also the one's saying how unfair it is that they aren't getting big law jobs. Then again, there are people with good grades and good experience who are having a hard time, so bad ish does happen to good people, but once again, that's life

It is a crap-shoot, but for the most part, the people who pay their dues are reaping the benefits, and the people who aren't putting in the work are getting the shaft.... funny how that works
