So I guess its time to start the OCI freakout...
When does the OCI employers list get released?
Does the median/min GPA data get released at the same time?
And If I remember correctly bids are due like end of June?
TYIA
ETA: if anyone has the powerpoint deck from the OCI meeting in April that would be pretty swell

Looking at last year's thread it looks like the list goes up at the very beginning of June.

This is amazing, thanksfishfry111 wrote:Yes.....although that may seem early, considering OCI didn't start until August 9th, you can use the time to research and generate spreadsheets customized to your targeted markets/practice-areas/reachability-of-the-firm, etc. Rather than starting from scratch, ask your upperclassmen friends for templates. Good idea. I've got a Chicago focused one I'll clean up and post in a couple of days as well.fishfry111 wrote:Yes.....although that may seem early, considering OCI didn't start until August 9th, you can use the time to research and generate spreadsheets customized to your targeted markets/practice-areas/reachability-of-the-firm, etc. Rather than starting from scratch, ask your upperclassmen friends for templates. Does anyone know if MS Office will be free for incoming students? Can some class of 2013ers (or before) give me some #realtalk on how many hours I should be studying for the NY bar before July 4th? I'm taking BarBri and it seems like overkill, but I have no idea.

I'm sure you will, but you might want to ask someone at admissions to clarifykenwash wrote:Does anyone know if MS Office will be free for incoming students? You can take any classes that are cross-listed with the business school, as well as (I believe) any 2 non cross-listed Kellogg classes. Some of the standard cross-listed classes Corporations, Finance I, and Accounting for Decision Making. This year there were a few others, like Corporate Compliance & the Social Mandate, Mergers Acquisitions & Industry Consolidation: A Case Study, and The Law of Real Estate Development & Finance.lhanvt13 wrote:are students able to take b-school courses without doing a JD-MBA?

Northwestern's NY bar passage rate is the lowest of the T15. In 2012, the pass rate was 88%. For comparison, Duke was over 95%. The pass rate in CA was 75%, below the average for all ABA accredited schools.parkslope wrote:Can some class of 2013ers (or before) give me some #realtalk on how many hours I should be studying for the NY bar before July 4th? Just do what BarBri tells you to do.

Looked it up and it was June 6th last year when we ended on May 9th. Ended on the 8th this year so same time line would be next Thursday, June 5th.lgleye wrote:Don't remember from last year, but does anyone know when grades come out?

Re: Northwestern 1L/2L/3L/Grads Taking Questions and Challenges
I would guess it's more a matter of seeing most of your friends studying for the Illinois bar, and adjusting your study time to match. That's unwise, because the Illinois bar is much easier than NY or CA. I studied a lot for NY, though less than the BarBri schedule. My MBE score was only like 90th percentile, which is comfortably passing but not so comfortable considering I put in a really solid 6-7 weeks with late nights, and considering that the vast majority of the competition is at T2/3/4-type schools.fishfry111 wrote:I guess you're saying we're slackers?rayiner wrote:Northwestern's NY bar passage rate is the lowest of the T15. The bar exam is not like a law school exam where you can study the supplement really hard for a couple of days before and get an A. There's a ton of material, and the essays and MC test the depth and corner-cases of the material. There's no short-cut to memorizing all the material, and while the BarBri schedule has a lot of padding, it's not as much as you think.
