If at all possible, they won't deal with it. Students affected may get an apology.

I don't know what they would do - the students may deserve a remedy (though that by no means implies that there will be a remedy).

How did that happen though? Was a page missing or something? Anyone who took the exam want to chip in?

Tamanaha sent a revised version with two extra paragraphs and it didn't make it into three people's folder.

Yikes. Don't know that there's a good solution to that problem. Maybe trust the professor to grade those 3 as though the question they got were proper, or lacking that, I'd think you have to grade them Pass/Fail?

That's a nasty situation with no good solution :(

If all of that is true, I can only imagine that they will just have him grade them as if the extra paragraphs were not there (as they were not). I don't think that will be problematic because a) Tamanaha is a very methodical grader (there are few professors I would trust more in a situation like this), and b) the paragraphs were "extra," which means there was an original version of the exam without them.

Is anyone familiar with the process for grading of unscheduled exams? Do the professors get to see/grade exams as they come in, or are they released to the professor in one batch after the end of the exam period?

Jesus. It amazes me how incompetent they are with respect to peoples' exams. It's not like anyone's future is at stake or anything.

I understand that CSO has undergone some changes recently. Is there still a dedicated clerkship advisor? How about a biglaw advisor?

What's the earliest 1L grades might start trickling out, and is there a time over break when they definitely won't come out because the office is closed?

I think something could possibly come out next week, but the week after seems more likely. I don't know what the grid was this semester, but Osgood and Badawi are fast graders. Some should definitely start trickling out the week of New Years I would imagine. I think the registrar only really closes for the holidays, they don't take a week or two off like at some schools.

Greenfield is also a fast grader.

Yes two classes' grades came out before Christmas last year iirc. Definitely before the New Year. Some came out after the spring semester started.

I am pretty sure that the class of 2017's likely valedictorian summered in Nashville. Moreover, I know another 2017 person who summered in Nashville and then got a fed clerkship in Memphis. I also think that we sent someone to King & Spalding in Atlanta. These three students are very, very smart. Baker Donelson routinely comes to OCI but no other major Nashville firms come. Cadwalader NC also routinely takes WUSTL students. We do have an off campus OCI interview program in Atlanta that is shared with some other schools. All in all, ties are very important in southern legal markets so if you are from TN, GA, FL, or NC then you need to highlight your ties when applying. Most major southern markets are "captured" markets in that they are dominated by local elite law schools.

I think there's something wrong with the system. One of my weekend classes told us she submitted grades in early December and we still haven't gotten them posted.

I dunno. It's still pretty early to be questioning why grades haven't been posted.

As far as I know, no grades (including for journals, moot court, multiple choice exams, etc.) are out. It seems odd. I think the registrar is probably out on vacation (3 weeks?) or got fired (torts exam thing), or the administration wants to slow the release of grades. I can't imagine there's a system error, but who knows.
