I dont think he's a full-time professor at UT, but I don't really know. And Im just a rising 2L, so would love to hear if any rising 3L's/graduates have taken him--was it a gunnerish class make-up? Hard to get into?

I was thinking of taking him for my spring semester if he teaches that con law 2 class again.

I heard his national security seminar consisted of going to his house and drinking scotch and listening to him tell stories of LBJ (who he's related to). No idea what he's like outside a lecture.

I'm sold.

Is there wifi available all throughout the law school? Even during exam time, would I need to plug in my computer at all to use wired internet or do we always use wifi?

Wifi is available everywhere in the law school.

This may have been asked earlier in the thread, but what's the best grocery store within a mile of the school? I've heard great things about Wheatsville and Central Market, but they both sound expensive.

for your generic grocery store, go to HEB. It's like 1-2 miles north of campus.

As I recall Central Market is somewhere between HEB and Whole Foods in terms of pricing. I do almost all of my grocery shopping at HEB.

Speaking of Whole Foods, the Whole Foods HQ is in Austin and there's a massive store on 6th and Lamar.

I know this may be a long shot, but I'm getting an apartment sight unseen and would love any extra information I could get on some apartments I'm considering. At this point I have it narrowed down to four complexes: Su Casa, Oak Park, Century Square, and Kensington Green. Has anyone visited any of these places, know a little bit about their neighborhoods, etc. I'm doing some research online but any insider information would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

That depends. Are you OK leaving your clothes there, or do you have to stay with them? Do you have to haul them up stairs, or is it a short walk?

I'm more in the research phase, so I'm not entirely sure. W/D connections have been mandatory so far in my search, but it seems like Hyde Park has slim offerings in that department. I lived in a dorm for 3 years and hated every second of not having a W/D close by at my disposal. Plus paying with quarters is also unappealing. However, it's a lot less expensive for some of these apartments and the locations seem to be better also.

I do. Get it done early, while you still have time to hang out at the DMV. Bring something to read. You'll have to surrender your other license, pay about $25, and provide some documentation to prove you exist. Be prepared to do your first few weeks of bar review with a temporary paper ID. If you have a passport, that might be good to carry around while you don't have a real license. (But don't lose it!)

I think there are certain conditions that trigger a retest, but if you don't have any unusual circumstances and your license is up to date, you should be OK. Definitely check the Dept. of Public Safety website for the details before you go.

for me at least, in-unit W/D and covered parking were necessary. that meant i had to live out farther (not much...i'm only 3ish miles from the law school), but it's great during finals when you could just throw things in the washer at night, go to bed, throw them in the dryer in the morning, and leave 'em there all day without worrying.

so I just discovered this thread (and just sent in my deposit/LOI), and am too lazy to click all the way through it. How's the parking at the law school? If I miss a bus, or taking a bus to school or from school proves inconvenient, what situation am I facing?

There are some free street spots a few blocks from the school, but they tend to fill up pretty early in the AM (from what I've heard, I wouldn't be looking for one of those after . There are pay spots right on Dean Keeton that fill up in the AM as well. You could also get a lot pass for spots/lots a few blocks from the school (unsure on price of these...you can find more info on this on the UT website). Also, there are some garages you can get passes to park in, but those run a few hundred a year (again, more info is on the UT website).

If you're living near a shuttle line, you probably won't need to worry about needing to drive to campus quick, other than late at night when lots of street parking is free.

Try to get a parking lot pass for San Jacinto Garage if you plan on driving to school. I had a pass last year and it was well worth it (it was around $600 for the year). Street parking sounds like a nightmare to do on a daily basis.

Have you ever been to Wheatsville? I like the concept of all locally grown, free range organic food so long as it doesn't obliterate my drinking fund.

It's my safety school and before I got my LSAT was my target, and I'm only a little bit concerned how I'll be treated walking around in maroon. Because, y'know, I'm going to wear my 24-17 shirt every week and yadda yadda. No, I kid. Mostly. But if y'all keep sucking, things will get interesting.
