Does anyone have a Fed Income Tax textbook they're looking to sell? I don't care about the condition of the book.

Also, to 1L's, I'm selling my Crim Law book (it's the same for all crim classes) for $110. It's in good condition, minimal highlighting.

That's pretty high there man. You can buy it new right now for $125 and used in very good condition for like $60.

Fair enough, I would take $100, seeing as that's what the law school is charging for used ones. I know those amazon ones go quickly though, and considering everyone at our school uses that book, there's not 360 used ones with that price on there.

In this thread, UVA loses its reputation for being collegial as a student tries to sell a used book to an incoming 1L for a higher price than the bookstore charges for the same used book.

Should we buy used if possible? Or is it best to just rent the books so you get them all new?

Lockers -- are they worth it?

Depends. If you live in Ivy or on Arlington I would say definitely not. If you live anywhere else, it's all personal preference.

I would think lockers are worth it no matter where you live. First, they are only $25 for the whole year. Even if you never use it, that is not a regret-inducing price. Second, if you like to do most of your studying at school (and maybe even if you don't) it is nice to have some place to store books, and not have to lug all of them back and forth every day.

Don't forget a place to stash food, softball crap, feb club costume pieces, an umberlla (huge), etc.

If you live more than walking distance away from the school, a locker is a necessity. If I forget a book, I can go to my locker. Without the locker, I'd have to drive twenty minutes each way.

If you're dropping fifty grand a year for tuition but are wondering whether three bucks a month for the convenience of both a book locker and a coat locker is worth it, suffice it to say that your priorities may be misplaced.

Buck's cool enough. Johnston's a smug asshole but he's really funny and his class was my favorite first semester.

Armacost - She can be a tough cookie, but people seem to like her. She's had some scathing cold calls from what I've heard. She's a good professor all things considered.

Bowers - He's cool. He's young, energetic and really into the subject matter. He was a Bronx public defender which is the Yankees of PD offices. You'll like him.

Stewart - She's sweet and totally adorable. She's a good LRW professor, but it's pass/fail and only meets an hour a week so there's less interaction.

Johnston's a smug asshole but he's really funny and his class was my favorite first semester.

I didn't think he was that much of an ass hole, but smug seems pretty spot on. I also enjoyed his class a lot. I found it useful to read the Chirelstein sections he assigned before reading the casebook.

Woolhandler is the nicest lady you'll ever meet and your cold calls will be really easy, but she's an incredibly shitty teacher. My classmates said she was a lot better at explaining the material one on one, so make sure you take advantage of her office hours. Sprigman assigns a lot of reading, and sometimes adds a hefty assignment without much notice at all. He's also very smug but I felt he was an effective teacher and overall I had a favorable experience in his class.
