The post service project orgy is particularly well-cateredthelincolnlawyer wrote:Are the voluntary service projects worth doing during orientation? I know they would be good for meeting people but I figure that will be happening all orientation week as it is.

Doing charity work is also, like, a pretty good thing to do outside of the perceived social benefits, ya know?
Plus you can hob knob with some 1L profs and start gunning for that B+.

How many are literally next to campus? I'm assuming a loose definition because the only one literally next to the campus should not even have its existence acknowledged.buckiguy_sucks wrote:In the city or literally next to campusAnonnonnon wrote:Important Q: What are your favorite bars around the GULC area?

Half-priced wine at Sixth Engine on Tuesdays is also extremely credited.

Re: GULC Students Taking Questions
Hey everyone. So my student loan disclosure statements were released recently and under school code they say "G01445." However, the FAFSA code for the Law Center seems to be G21075. Does this meant that something went wrong? I didn't even send my FAFSA to the main campus...

And Kelly's itself is pretty blah, so what does that tell you about BGT?WhiskeyAndCupcakes wrote:I mean, Kelly's is way better than BGT and like 10 more steps away from campus, so there aren't many reasons to go to BGT.Capitol_Idea wrote:Huh am I thinking of a different bar thenbuckiguy_sucks wrote:dude the billy goat is a terrible bar, weird and sterile interior styling, bad food, and two beers on tapCapitol_Idea wrote: I'm not gonna say it's the best or anything but how the fuck does anyone have something against Billy Goat, it's perfectly fine.

The whole area is ripe for being firebombed if you ask me, but the BGT takes the crown of being the single worst establishment thereusn26 wrote:And Kelly's itself is pretty blah, so what does that tell you about BGT?WhiskeyAndCupcakes wrote:I mean, Kelly's is way better than BGT and like 10 more steps away from campus, so there aren't many reasons to go to BGT.Capitol_Idea wrote:Huh am I thinking of a different bar thenbuckiguy_sucks wrote:dude the billy goat is a terrible bar, weird and sterile interior styling, bad food, and two beers on tapCapitol_Idea wrote: I'm not gonna say it's the best or anything but how the fuck does anyone have something against Billy Goat, it's perfectly fine.

Worse than the rehab clinic across the street from GULC? Slightly shittier drink options than BGTHand wrote:The whole area is ripe for being firebombed if you ask me, but the BGT takes the crown of being the single worst establishment thereusn26 wrote:And Kelly's itself is pretty blah, so what does that tell you about BGT?WhiskeyAndCupcakes wrote:I mean, Kelly's is way better than BGT and like 10 more steps away from campus, so there aren't many reasons to go to BGT.Capitol_Idea wrote:Huh am I thinking of a different bar thenbuckiguy_sucks wrote:dude the billy goat is a terrible bar, weird and sterile interior styling, bad food, and two beers on tapCapitol_Idea wrote: I'm not gonna say it's the best or anything but how the fuck does anyone have something against Billy Goat, it's perfectly fine.

Re: GULC Students Taking Questions
Mine say the same thing(I'm an entering student also). I'm pretty sure that it is because Georgetown is the one who handles everything money wise (i.e. the student account services site). So I'm assuming it's supposed to be like that. If you find out anything differently, please let me know.ChristineBaskets wrote:Hey everyone. Re: GULC Students Taking Questions
A couple more questions for the GULC veterans:
1) As far as getting books for class, should I be ordering those now? Is it advisable to rent or buy? And does it make more sense to physically go to the bookstore and get them during orientation week? Also, for some of my courses, my section schedule lists multiple possible LRW/Torts classes that I could be placed in -- when will I know exactly which class I'm in? I'm guessing during orientation?
2) RE: the GoCard, apparently we have to send in a photo of ourselves... Is this supposed to be a "portrait," like one that you would pay to have taken at a pharmacy - or can it just be any random photo/selfie that fits the given criteria (no larger than 600x600, single-colored background)?

Re: GULC Students Taking Questions
1) I almost always get my books online. I like having fresh, un-highlighted textbooks, so sadly I shell out a good bit of money for them, but sometimes you can get deals if you look early enough. I rent e&e's and the like tho, and had good experience with amazon, but I think you can just do whatever is cheapest or more convenient.ChristineBaskets wrote:A couple more questions for the GULC veterans:

2) I downloaded a free passport photo app on my phone and sent them a photo from that.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
