True story: there are like 4 people gunning in the fishbowl even though it's 4am.
In unrelated news, keep an eye out for the libel promo video Tuesday morning. It will be swanky.

If you are looking for somewhere within walking distance, the Arlington Park townhouses allow pets.chem wrote:I was looking at the ivy and they dont allow pets. Is there any other apartment complexes (that are still open) where law students congregate that allow pets?

What percentage of 1Ls have roommates? The thought of having a 1BR to myself for less money than I spend now to split a 1BR (living in NoVA) seems too good to pass up. But would I be in the vast minority without a roommate?

Re: UVA Law Students Taking Questions
So I will be in Charlottesville for ASW but stay from Thursday until Monday to 1.) check out apartments and 2.) my gf has an interview on Friday and Monday so wth. I was wondering since the hotel I am at is not super close and some of the apartments I want to check out are not close (one ten mins from campus one is closer to 20 mins) what should I do about transportation? Rental car for that time period is looking like 270-300 bucks (since I am under 25 they tack on an extra 25 a day).
I was wondering, maybe use Zip cars?
Any other options I am not seeing?

Why does it matter if you have a roomate. I am sure people are all over the board. Some have roomates, some live alone, and some like me will be living with their SO. I would do whatever you think will be best for your study goals. Being social, I have a feeling, will not be the hard part of these next 3 years lolringo wrote:What percentage of 1Ls have roommates? It's not about fitting in at all, my concern was an impact on social life. But AR is right that that won't be the hard part in cville.AssumptionRequired wrote: Why does it matter if you have a roomate. I am sure people are all over the board. Rent a U-Haul truck. I think you only have to be 18.AssumptionRequired wrote:So I will be in Charlottesville for ASW but stay from Thursday until Monday to 1.) check out apartments and 2.) my gf has an interview on Friday and Monday so wth. Why hotels? Were there not enough students opening up their homes?

Hey do you guys know around when Ivy starts filling up?
I'm 90% sure that I'll be in cville in the fall but waiting until asw to decide, and all these facebook posts about housing and what not are making me nervous!

I think there are like two Zipcars in the city of Charlottesville (though it's been about a year since I last checked). Depending on how many places you're going, just cab it everywhere?AssumptionRequired wrote:So I will be in Charlottesville for ASW but stay from Thursday until Monday to 1.) check out apartments and 2.) my gf has an interview on Friday and Monday so wth. Also, call the apartment complexes and see if they have a shuttle. I'm pretty sure both Woodlands and Jefferson Ridge, if that's where you're looking, have shuttles that go to the campus. Can't hurt to ask if someone will come pick you up from your hotel either. If they want your business, they might send someone out to get you.

The majority of 1Ls I know have roommates, but I definitely know some that don't. It won't have that big an impact on your social life, especially if you're thinking of living in Ivy.ringo wrote:t14fanboy wrote:Lol. I'd probably call the folks at the Ivy office and ask. FWIW, I remember when I was looking at housing (a couple years ago), I read that Ivy would fill up very late in the game, it's just that you'd get the housing which was the furthest from the law school.

Anybody coming for admitted students day should seriously consider staying to watch the Libel Show on Friday night. It's at 8:00 with open beer service beforehand and there will be tickets available for admitted students at the activities fair during the day.
