All out of 258 grads.

Looks like close to 33% to 100+ person firms or fed clerkship. Pretty solid. I'm sure a few of those are plaintiff associate mills, but I wouldn't be surprised if a few of the 25-100 firms are boutiques which pay market, and a few of the state clerkships/government jobs are probably prestigious, so I would guess that is a wash.

I'm actually pretty disappointed by this. It was a pretty good year overall for big law/federal clerkships. T14s on average did much better for c/o 2014 than 2013, and a lot of WUSTL's peer schools did better as well (BC, BU, ND, USC, etc.), but WUSTL's numbers actually went down in spite of an improving market and a smaller class size. Solid increase in long term, full time, bar required employment though (even after the increase in school funded jobs).

Sorry if this question has already been asked/answered (such a long thread..), but does anyone have more information about the Dean's Fellowship, other than the full ride? What are these "exclusive opportunities"? Is the faculty advisor really helpful? What factors go into deciding who we're matched with (and are all faculty members available as advisors?)

I know a guy who was top 20ish percent and got a job at a really good texas biglaw firm. He is a super personable guy who wrote onto law review and has solid work experience though, so who knows if he would have had the same offer if not for that.

Osgood is an effing machine when it comes to grading. He taught 2/3s of my class crim law, it was a 4 hour exam, and our grades were up in 3 days. 180ish exams in 3 days (2 days really, considering the registrar has to proof them).

that's incredible. he's purportedly done with about half of ~150 or so exams as of this morning, but my understanding is he started yesterday. i don't understand how he does it this quickly. i like to think he opens the exams to the big policy question and then just kind of feels the grade radiating from the page, or something. that man is a mystic.

in regards to write on, does EVERYONE who participates get placed in a journal? or will a significant portion be left out?

Not everyone who participates gets an offer from a journal. I've heard it's something like 90% receive an offer.

I think they also vary the journal sizes though. The rate of offers probably does change, but I don't think by as much as you might think. No matter how small the class got there would probably always be at least a few entries that are just awful, and on the other end there's probably some cap to how big the journals could reasonably be.

Yeah I heard each one is taking 2-3 more people than last year. That's adding 8-12 spots and our class has 80 more people than last year.
