Thanks y'all. Who should be considering it? Anyone interested in lit? How's the workload? Would you recommend it?

Haven't been on ITP but I believe the people that are interested in it are those looking for 4/5 credits of A/A+

^^^ He's talking about Trial Advocacy.

I thought it was great and a lot of fun, but there are a lot of mixed reviews out there. Since the class is taught entirely by adjuncts, your enjoyment and learning will depend on who you get for your adjuncts each week. It won't be super helpful if you're trying to go into lit because you won't be trying cases much (if ever) as an associate if you're going to a firm. But it's a pretty fun way to get 4 credits and not have to read cases and get cold called. It's also uncurved.

The biggest negative is taking ITA Evidence and Ethics along with it, which are both giant pains the ass.

I don't believe so. Has to be taken concurrently with or after evidence and ethics I think.

Maybe it's only evidence and you can swing taking it as a second semester 1L, but I wouldn't really recommend it.

I think to get the bonus, you have to take it as a trilogy. Normally it's 3 for Trial Ad, 2 for ethics, and 3 for evidence and if you take them all concurrently you get 10 instead.

I'm also pretty sure you can't take it as a 1L. It's not listed as "open to first year students" on CAESAR

Yeah, you can't do ITA as a 1L.

I loved ITA, but I got lucky and got awesome adjuncts for the most part. I also know people who definitely knew their shit got screwed by getting shifty adjuncts for parts of the class that were graded heavily. It's also a lot more work during the semester than other classes, but then it's over at the very beginning of finals.

And something to keep in mind is that a lot of people feel the grading is pretty arbitrary (even in the Evidence and Ethics portions), so those extra credits aren't exactly a bonus to everyone.

That said, I really enjoyed it and am glad I took it.

Eh. School doesn't let you bring the wife and kids. You do what you gotta do.

Plus, it's one less entire SA check to pay off your credit card and one less check to Uncle Sam when you're 55.

Usually people start planning it in the fall to have the bids ready by December/November (I think). You get an extra credit for planning but it is probably not worth the time and effort you actually have to put in. I'd rather just tag along on someone I know's ITP (which is what I did).

Also, I think they might be switching it to a 10 day trip or something this year, which would suck.

Sup guys? long time no talk :-)

Also, is it stupid to take evidence and ethics and not trial ad for the extra credit?

nah not that stupid if you have no interest in trial. it's a lot of work, plus ITA ethics is a giant pain in the ass.
