I am currently getting credit for a summer internship and have the chance of getting a part time internship in the fall. Would I be able to get credit for it? I heard that the summer and school year practicum classes are technically different. Is this true?

What is the internship with? Is it one of the public interest ones or is it an organization or is it a judge?

I assume it's not a judge because people call those externships usually, but I will say that the people I know who did school-year work for judges said it was way too much damn work for during the school year. Either sure "part-time" really means that or tightly limit your credits or extracurriculars.

I'd suggest taking another bs seminar or something and do two drafts so you get 3 credits and can get ahead so you can have a light 3L. Those of us that are staring down 29-32 credit hours for 3L are not excited.

I used up the credits I got ahead during summer during fall, and it was kind of a mistake. I wished I waited til 3L.

I was a summer SLIP intern at the DOJ during my 2L summer and then continued to work at the same office as a fall intern. I took the criminal practicum because my office did criminal antitrust law. It was sometimes a hassle getting back and forth, but I liked all the connections I made continuing to work there. Still talk to those people from time to time.

Hmm. My judge specifically required that I be earning credits to be permitted to work for free, so I guess it varies by judge.

It is definitely smart to stretch your loan budget over the summer. You can also take classes (tuition over the summer is free) and take out more loans for the summer, but this might be a bad idea if you're debt averse.

People do it all sorts of ways. Some get paid jerbs that barely cover the bills (RA, internships), others take student loans for their unpaid internship credits, some get public interest stipends, and others just use their student loan money from the school year.

I'd aim to save, but you have a fallback if you need it.

I'd aim to save, but you have a fallback if you need it.

If you do a public interest job, you can also take a practicum and get credit for it and get loan money that way. The problem with taking loans, though, is that you don't get them until like late June, so you still need to stretch your loan money from the school year a bit.

Exam schedule us Monday, Thursday, Monday, Thursday. You will have an exam the last day.

No real use trying to figure it out. By graduation median is round 3.65. So probably 3.5 for 2L. Maybe higher since transfers don't have any 1L grades. So could be like 3.55.

The place my wife and I are applying to has a 75 lb limit on dogs. We haven't weighed our dog in a while, last time we did he was right around 75 lb's. The landlord said they won't check BUT if a neighbor complains about him they will have to weigh him and if he is even 76 lb's our lease is voided. Has anyone ever heard of a bitchy neighbor doing something like this? This would be worst case scenario. Our dog is pretty friendly and may try to lick neighbors or something, but he never barks and never acts mean.
Again, dumb neurotic question, I know the answer is probably "this never happens," but had to ask anyway 'cause getting my lease voided would be the worst.

If you're really really worried maybe put your dog on a diet? I wouldn't be too concerned though, this is Chicago. I lived in 111 E. Chestnut for a while and I used to exercise my pup by running up and down the halls with her. She even ran into my neighbors units a few times and they laughed it off. So your best strategy may be to get on good terms with the neighbors early.

By the time they actually went through the process of evicting you your lease would probably be up and you would have had time to find a new place. I wouldn't really worry about it.

I've had a dog over the limit in buildings before and never had a problem.

Yeah I will def be on good terms with neighbors. My kind of dog is one where dog people LOVE him obsessively 'cause he's ridic cute and friendly. Not dog people are scared of him/hate him because he will run up, sniff their junk and then run around like a chicken with its head cut off.
