Could anyone offer some insight into the following profs?

Civ Pro - Abernathy
Torts - Spunn
ConLaw - Tew, Donohue, or Dinh
LW - Bonneau or Kettler

Abernathy is the most feared of all 1L profs, mainly because he pushes the cold call thing to aggressive heights not seen outside of the Paper Chase. Or that's the rumor. I never had him but I know plenty who did—he's supposed to be an excellent teacher, and I gather his shtick is really just a shtick meant to toughen up 1Ls. Spann is amazing, hilarious, completely detached from human emotion, and a legal deconstructionist like no other. He will learn exactly none of your names unless he can use you to set up running jokes about preferring equity over law. I loved his class consistently but I really should have prepared better for his exam. Speaking of the exam, he does short answer q's and while it seems easier than an issue spotter, it can be far worse in some ways when you realize you have no idea what he's looking for. Great professor all around, very hide the ball, you'll def want to prep hard for the exam because the class sessions won't teach you much of the black letter law you'll need.

Don't know the others, but Dinh wrote the Patriot Act and works with Paul Clement at Bancroft, so do with that what you will.

This. Spann's exams are almost like the LSAT (i.e., extremely learnable). He should have a ton of practice exams up, and you should take every single one. My study group spent much more time breaking down the mechanics of his questions and answers than we did talking about the material itself and benefited heavily from it.

Anyone have experience with Spann and/or Abernathy in upper level classes? Should I preemptively get enraged by pointless cold calls or is that just a 1L tactic?

I think Spann's con law exams are the same format, so i'd imagine the same advise applies. Spann is pretty ruthless if you raise your hand, but the obvious advice there is just don't raise your hand and let him mock gunners.

Lots of people like the small sections, I prefer larger classes. You have closer to a normal distribution and less chance of a stacked class.

Haha! I literally had "...stacked class - I'm looking at you Torts!" typed out but decided not to vent my frustration. I'd be willing to bet that class had a disproportionate number of top 1/3, top 15, and top 10 students in it.

Abernathy makes jokes about terrifying 1Ls in his upper level classes. He occasionally cold calls still, but won't push you tons. He will make fun of you if you're unprepared though. Upper level class for him was really fun and I learned a lot, but the exam was killer.

Do students get lockers for the semester?
And are the lockers in the gym that we can rent usually available for rent at the begining of the semester or are they usually rented pretty far in advance and all taken?

I think you get 10% off at the cafeteria but i've never bothered to set this up

I put money on it to print and park but idk if that means I've set it up as a debit card

The 10% off is great, especially if you do daily coffee. Also, Susan Bloch is a great lady who is very scatter brained and teaches the subjects with a 100 ft pole, but expects you to know them close up.
