for crim law Im guessing?

that class is kind of a mess, He's pretty heavy on statutory interpretation so Ive been really trying to get that down. While there is only the one relevant exam, the policy questions on the old tests are definitely relevant still, and the issue spotters aren't that different. I think mainly the terms are what have radically changed with the new book.

But yeah that is definitely the class Im unsure about.

I only have him for Crimpro. We don't even have one exam to look at, so consider yourself lucky.

I'm outlining the over 1,000 pages we have covered in class. It's taking awhile. Just outline better than the other people. I dunno about crimlaw, but the way Hoffman teaches means no one is really on top of the reading.

In case anyone is interested in visiting, IU's FinAid office was really helpful/informative to someone that is green to the whole loan process, and the Dean of Admission Frank Motley was fun to chat with.

Thankfully I have Scott who has done a decent job so far of keeping us very aware of what he expects out of us for the final.

I put Williams since my PGA insisted she was an amazing professor. Kirshnan was definitely my second choice though.

Well he has a seating chart so he knows exactly where to look, and the poor visitor happened to be very unlucky. The names obviously didn't match up, but once the the prof figured out the actual student wasn't there, I think he figured the next best thing was to have the person sitting there do it. The visitor was clearly terrified and lost and the Prof was pretty confused, which led to a hilarious minute.

I was warned by the person who gave me my tour that I might get cold-called by Bethel. And was also told that if cold-called, I should vehemently hate on Michigan/Notre Dame.

Nope, she was great - candid and honest with all my questions, at least, as far as I could tell. Really loved the feel of IU. It has probably moved up to my current "if money were no object" #1 choice based on my tour on Friday. Really loved the feel of campus and the school in general, plus I know a few people in the 1L class from my high school.

Hopefully I'll be admitted and I'll have a difficult choice to make in a few months, between IU and others.

I find avoiding looking at it helps a lot. (That and studying at home.)

It's driving me crazy trying to figure out who some of these posters are. I'm also in Bethel's and Hoffmann's classes, so I'm definitely in class with some of you.

With that said, I'm happy to throw my hat in the ring and answer some questions too if possible incoming students have them.

I actually had a CoL question for you guys - what're your typical expenses? From what I could tell, the CoL number was pretty high for Bloomington (something like $17,500) when I was doing estimates. Do you find that is a lot?

I guess what I'm asking is, do you really feel like you need to pull the full amount for the loan, or do most people fall under that amount? The way I figure, given how much apartments cost at my undergrad, which is in a more major city than Bloomington, I could probably find a very nice place to rent for $500-$600 a month, with most utilities taken care of, food at about $100-125 a week, and keep my costs significantly below that. Is that your experience?

Definitely. Bloomington is very, very cheap. I paid $250 my first year and still was only paying $285 by my last year. Granted I shared my apartment, it wasn't particularly nice and my room was technically an office... but was safe, a 10 minute walk to virtually everything (including Maurer) and I had HBO... I'll take it. Bloomington is a very nice place to live all around and very lively since the students make up such a massive proportion of the city population. The only real downside is its kind of isolated. Even then you're an hour from Indy, 2 hours from Louisville and about 4 hours from Chicago. Not bad.

And the drinks at bars are PAINFULLY CHEAP.

No, really, I'm there too when it's on. Strangely, I'm a lot more comfortable about that final than Geyh's, even though Geyh is a much more straightforward prof to listen to.
