However, if such a community doesn't exist at NYU Law it would be helpful to know so I can start looking for a Manhattan sports club to join. Thanks!

Hmmm, I would say it does. I mean, I played competitively, but not much during law school. But I do think people do play, and there are undergrad intramural that you could join, if I'm not mistaken.

Great, thanks for the quick response. Are there any law-student only intramural sports? I'd certainly be interested in a less competitive atmosphere that instead allowed me get to know my classmates. Also, the idea of playing undergrad intramurals with 18 year olds makes me feel incredibly old.

Off the top of my head, I'm not sure. Let me ask a friend who would have an answer for this.

From a friend: "There is a law school only football and softball league. Coles for basketball is mixed between undergrads other grads and us. Athletic ability is okay. I played for a very athletic intramural scene at undergrad and this is worse. Flagfootball is fun though. Competition is generally two-three good people per team. I never played quarterback in my life and played this year and we did fine. It was a good time to get to know people.

In regards to sports clubs to join recommend zog sports. I play on zog soccer and it's great, relatively cheap and easy."

Any NYU soccer to be had? Not too worried about law-only status.

Rugby is a thing I believe. Signed up at the beginning of the year and got like 500 emails about it (never played)

There are intramural basketball leagues that are university wide where the lawschool has 1-2 teams that generally do pretty well

What's something you wish you had known going into 1L at NYU (not just law school) that you didn't know at the time? For example, anything about certain classes, meeting people, programs, etc.? Thanks!

I can't really think of anything off the top of my head. Maybe getting old outlines earlier in the semester?

Getting good outlines on day 1 - but you don't really understand what a good outline is yet.

I can't think of things that don't apply to pretty much every law school except which bathrooms are best and where some sweet hidden study (nap) spots are.

How do you tell a good outline from a bad one? I know that's a probably a complicated question, but any thoughts would be appreciated.

I am a Cornell to NYU transfer and while I foudn that when I needed help the NYU career services did end up giving me decent advice, I foudn that it was ahrd to make an apointment, they were annoying to deal with and that in Cornell it was much easier to get a quick questioned answered. NYU is bigger, they have wayyy more students, and the trade-off is they might not respond to a email question. It might be impossible to meet with them during X week when you need somethign answered before a CB happens. I found this to be extremely frustratign and that Cornell was much better with this. That being said once I was in the room with the NYU career services I found the answers they gave me to be decently helpful at times

You could always join one of the main NYU clubs (not specifically for law shcool). They have intramurals in most sports, Taekwondo, Jiu Jitsu, Karate, rock climbing and a ton of other actvities/sports/teams and the alrge majority of it is free (certain clubs have a ~$100 fee, like i think rock climbing)

Rock climbing is an unofficial group and there is no fee.

-Become friends with upperclassmen who did well and have good outlines (you can usually trust someone who tell you they have a good outline if they did well).
-If the outline is easy to understand, that's a plus.
-As you learn throughout the semester, you should be able to see if and where the outline might be weaker.
-If you get multiple outlines (always a good idea), you could fact check them against each other.

Thanks for clarifying that. There are a few groups that have a fee though, just not sure which ones (they tend to be the more not-common activities).

Contact Uperclassmen / Rising 2L's and buy from them. Also renting from Amazon sometimes makes sense, depending upon your other options.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
