Do you consider your personality to be typical of LR and managing board or do you tend to be the outlier?

Flame. No one on law review dates women of "color". Unless by color you mean Asian or Indian....fatduck wrote:oh god please expand upon thisVa L Rev Stud wrote:I only date women of color, so my experience might be atypical.jcunni5 wrote:how much much more action do you get as a result of being able to say you're on LR

There's always at least one under-performing Asian looking for a way to save face with her parents...Va L Rev Stud wrote:You know I do.BruceWayne wrote: Flame. No one on law review dates women of "color". Unless by color you mean Asian or Indian....

What's your favorite part about managing board? Least favorite part? Is it worth the time in retrospect?Va L Rev Stud wrote:I think I'll probably end up on the 4th, 5th, or 11th. That's definitely part of the reason I decided to do MB; as I mentioned above, I also have some academic aspirations. To be honest, though, prestige-whoring probably predominated. I don't know anyone who is doing it for kicks or anything like that. I will say that some folks definitely enjoy legal scholarship more than others.showNprove wrote: I actually edited it to appear less lame, lol.
Which Circuit Court do you expect to be clerking for? And is that why you decided to take on twice as much work next year as a member of the Managing Board? And does anyone apply for the Managing Board for any other reason?

Favorite: Pooling articles is my favorite by a fair distance when it comes to official tasks. I've been a scholarship nerd for several years now, and getting to evaluate submissions from preeminent authors as well as up-and-comers is a pleasure. If we expand it to just favorite part of the experience, I would say the social stuff is pretty close. There are some great folks on the MB. I almost saw a double WGWAG one night; those dudes are awesome.vamedic03 wrote:What's your favorite part about managing board? Least favorite part? Least Favorite: Grading journal tryouts.
As for the time commitment, it's kind of hard for me to say at this point. Assuming everything goes to plan with respect to clerkship opportunities and the like, I think it definitely will be. Even if that weren't an issue, I probably still would have done it.
