I'm hoping someone will explain precisely what "lottery" courses are. I'm assuming they won't matter for 1L, and I have an educated guess as to what they are, but without any precise information on the UChicago website I'm coming to TLS for clarification. Thanks in advance.

This. Nothing has ever weighed on me for such an extended period of time the way the end of 1L did. From the moment you are assigned the brief, conditions start to deteriorate. By the time you hit the reading period, you cannot help but be uncomfortable to say the least.

They said last year it was 140. Everybody works, since we're already starting late as it is.

The brief was pretty much the end of 1L for me. By the time we got to exams I was already done.

I think grades are due at the start of July, and OCI bidding is at the end of the month, so we should have at least 3 weeks if our professors are on time with grades (they aren't always).
