Is it just me or do the waitlists seem insane this semester?

+1. I have given up and am just taking whatever crap the algorithm assigned me. FWIW I think there's going to be a lot of movement once we get some grades.LetsGoMets wrote:Is it just me or do the waitlists seem insane this semester?

Re: Columbia students taking questions
Yup. There are like 5 classes with open spots right now.
I ranked a couple classes really low because they weren't even close to full in past years. I'm deep in the waitlist on most of them. The "seat reserved" weirdness doesn't help.

It's something with the registrar i think. some professors have said it took weeks for the registrar to post grades

Re: Columbia students taking questions
I haven't cared enough to really look at it, but I have a feeling that there are significantly fewer lecture classes being offered this semester and significantly fewer seats in the ones that are being offered. I'm in or on the waitlist for three "lecture" classes right now that are capped at 40 or fewer students, which seems a bit nuts.White Dwarf wrote:Yup. That seems right. Last spring Fed Tax had 168 people in it. This semester it's capped at 65.

Cool. A new dean of registration services. Maybe she can explain why so many of our grades aren't posted yet.

Didn't you hear? CLS has stopped all services. No grades, no refund, no classes. We pay tuition for a chance to hear professors talk, that's it.DCfilterDC wrote:Where the f is my refund.

uh so I am assuming they are done for the day unless they do some sort of automatic thing after hours?

Re: Columbia students taking questions
My LPW grade posted sometime in the last 20 minutes (since I last refreshed). So, could have been right before 5:00 pm EST, they could be working after 5:00, or some of it could be automated. 'Tis a black box.

HELPPPP - I need 33 pro bono hours by the end of the semester. What's the best way to get this done?

Re: Columbia students taking questions
0L here with a question!
Since my searching of TLS has thus far produced few helpful answers, I have come to the Columbia students! Did any of you who did not receive a butler/hamilton in your initial acceptance letter receive any $$$ later on?
More specifically, did any of you take the Feb LSAT, improve your score, and use that to negotiate $$$?
I was just accepted yesterday in the first wave of this cycle, but no $$$ info in the letter. Just wondering if I should even hope to get something later on or not...
Thanks in advance!

Re: Columbia students taking questions
people receive scholarship money upwards of half tuition without getting a named fellowship. I imagine if you had a substantially improved LSAT and you still hadn't accepted your offer, that could help your negotiating position.airwrecka wrote:0L here with a question!

Still missing a seminar grade. How long does it take for two instructors to grade 15 15-page papers?

Re: Columbia students taking questions
Yeah still missing a grade here as well. The prof unfortunately probably has enough clout that administration lets him do whatever he wants, so who knows if the grade will come out anytime soon.GoneSouth wrote:Still missing a seminar grade. Seriously? What are you waiting for?
