I know I had to fill out that symplicity form, but my pga was claiming grades may not be uploaded there for a few weeks, and just sending something from One start would seem extremely unprofessional.

Whatever 1L gives you a tour should show you around. Are you sitting in on Williams? That man will probably pick you out as not one of his students (he knows all of ours names).

Just check our Kirkwood and the campus. Maybe catch a basketball game. Then get trashed at Nick's. It's a small town, there's not that much outside of Kirkwood and the town square area.

no if a grade misses the official report it never goes on the official report. you need a transcript. you will never have hoff in the grade distribution database either. its just the way it is, and it sucks terribly.

Williams scares me with his memory. I think he would be an interesting prof to sit in as a visitor, but he is scary for those of us who could get cold called

yeah i'm going to talk to cso tomorrow. Also, anyone know if we allowed to put approximate rankings next to our gpa on our resume (since we aren't truly ranked until after 2nd semester)?

I think my pga said it was looked down upon since its not exact. But if you are talking to cso already I would ask, and for sure if you are getting interviewed then throw in the approximate rank.

talked to cso: approx. class ranks are a big no no on the resume. proper procedure is to state it in the cover letter or verbally.

do you know what the employment statistics for the last few years? I'd love to attend Indiana but my concern is employment afterwards. I'm shooting for federal and/or boutique type firms. Also, what are the markets that 2L's gravite towards for their summer.

If I remember correctly, we were talking about that earlier on here. Someone was saying that this past year was very bad. I'd like to hear more talk about this though.

With regards to interviews, does bringing copies of your law school résumé suffice, or should I bring other stuff such as personal statement, etc.? The email said the interviewers will have no prior information.

As far as I know, no similarly ranked school is hitting close to their numbers from 07. If you are looking for a golden ticket, then don't go to law school.

I would be wary of any school trying to give you employment information, as it will be totally unreliable (even more unreliable than it was when the market was good ). There are still loads of law grads who are still looking for jobs, or those stuck in permanent deferment, from the 09 grads.

It's hard to say where the 2L's are going, as the only ones who have good paying jobs are at the top of their class. Like I was explaining in the prior sentence, there is a large amount of unemployed grads from last year (and even the year before). Many places can get an actual grad.

This is going on at every school. Jobs are bleak (especially NY and LA). I understand that the secondary markets are not bad. Hopefully it will improve, but I hope you can tell how I can't, and I don't think anyone else, can give you good employment numbers (for this school, or any other one).

I would guess only bring what they ask. I don't know if actual admins or just alums interview you. Either way, they aren't there to question you about your resume (they should already have a copy of that). From what I can tell, it's just seeing what kind of person you are.

As of hte beginning of last semester the word was that 60 students did not have jobs from last year. Not sure how much that has changed our what exactly the situation is now.

2L's seem very quiet on the subject as well this year. Id bet the top of the class is alright ( or i hope so at least).

Like it was said above bottom of the class about everywhere is getting screwed.

I think that particularly for Indiana, some of us are trying to get a good grasp of the reach that the school has. Most students go out-of-state (from their #s), but from what was being said earlier, it looks like that has been beaten down a bit. I definitely want to have a good understanding of what the current situation is.

the problem is right now no one has exact numbers and no one knows exactly how things will rebound next year. the last two years have been pretty brutal, in particular to the bottom half of the class. However after talking to some 2l's without jobs, some of them have some very unrealistic expectations.

I know personally im particularly weighing the benefits of transferring vs. staying at IU. I really love IU however im still a little concerned about placement. (albeit im sure placement as a transfer won't be particularly good either)

You know I like Indy. Its a nice town and I could defintly see myself going there. I think that is a key decision in coming to IU, make sure you can live with working in the midwest particularly Indianapolis area. I am from CA and i love CA but I came here knowing full well that it would be likely that I would be in the midwest after graduation.

I really hope/think things will rebound slightly next year.

I think right now Im kinda star struck by teh chance of getting in to some schools back home that i would have had no chance last year. We'll see if I get lucky again next semester where things take me.

. hm, yea. That might be appealing. When is the timeframe for the transfer cycle? Is there a decent way to gauge where you might be able to get in?
