That's good, as my 5-year plan currently involves me taking 24 seminars in ethical values.YCrevolution wrote:Seminar in Ethical Values is P/F. I think there are also one or two clinincs that grade one of the two semesters as pass/fail.thesealocust wrote:Post v. 2.0, now with 10x more clarity:

Are the movie theaters as shitty as I've heard? That will make me a sad panda.

1 total or 1 per year? RVP will cry if it's 1 total.thesealocust wrote:MAY THE RATS EAT THEIR EYESYCrevolution wrote:Sadly, they only let you take one for credit...
Re: movie theaters. They do suck but for 0Ls, the good news is they're building a nice one scheduled to open in Fall 2012 along with a Trader Joe's and some other nice stuff.

The problem with the movie theaters is that there are three. But each is very small, and they divide up the movies, so each movie will (generally) only be at one of the three. Some are nicer than others.

Re: UVA 2L taking questions
It's really good that they're building a whole new theater instead of going ahead with their plan to expand the shitty little 4-screen Regal theater that exists there now. I think the lack of a really good multiplex was the single worst thing about C-ville when I was there.gladiator wrote:Re: movie theaters. Re: UVA 2L taking questions
So I was going through some of the fin aid info, and it says "Payment can be made via e-check or credit card through QuikPay@UVA (login through SIS.) Payment can also be made by paper check and mailed along with the printed remittance portion of the PDF version of the statement. Please note that payment with credit card (MasterCard, Discover, or American Express) will incur a 2.75% convenience fee."
Does that mean if you pay with a Visa credit card there is no convenience fee?

Short answer: No, it means you can't pay the bill with a Visa card.pjo wrote:So I was going through some of the fin aid info, and it says "Payment can be made via e-check or credit card through QuikPay@UVA (login through SIS.) Long and overly detailed answer: Most credit card agreements include a roughly 3% fee on all transactions that the merchant must pay the credit card company. Most credit card agreements then prohibit charging a customer for using a credit card (effectively passing the fee on). There are a few exceptions made, often if the payment is of a type rarely made by CC and allowing CC payment is truly a convenience (rent might be an example, I'm not certain though). Some card companies explicitly authorize schools accepting tuition / room / board payments to charge convenience fees for using the credit card. Visa's merchant agreement, however, prohibits charging fees for process educational expenses while the others allow it. As a consequence, schools don't accept Visa payments on such tra

Re: UVA 2L taking questions
Well over half of my section got big firm jobs or rough equivalent (i.e. DoJ, public interest, or government work they preferred to big firm work) for 2L summer. But plenty struggled and 'struck out' of the hunt for the most desirable jobs, and I know many 3Ls who graduated without work lined up.flexityflex86 wrote:Off topic - how are job prospects looking in a totally unbiased way?

Re: UVA 2L taking questions
I have a classified ad of sorts.
I'll be moving into the Jeffersonian on 5th of August, and as I will be pretty much car-less I would like to furnish the place as much as possible from people at the Jeffersonian who are leaving and want to get rid of their furniture. If you or any of your buddies have any of the following items you'd like to sell around that time, send me a PM and we can discuss details.
-Queen bed frame
-Dresser/nightstand
-Lamps
-Wooden desk and chair
-Entertainment Center
-Bookshelves
-Coffee table
-Dining table and chairs
-Silverware, dishes, wine key, spatulas, pots/pans, etc.
Thanks!

How often does a young academic have to attend an 8:50 a.m. PRE class to be successful? I'm talking guesstimates here, I don't expect charts.

If you got a clinic, and you don't want it, what do you do? The clinic I got is fewer credits (3) then (4) is it easy to register for clinics, or not really?
