Last year we had exactly 10 weeks off. If you plan on doing the writing competition, it won't be fun.

The year before, though, they had 11 weeks off.

If you go to OCS, they should have an estimated date of OCI for you. Last year I asked around early January and they told me the date.

I'm pretty sure Casey just posts a .pdf of cases.

Any estimate on when the grades are usually released?

It's a week earlier than what you guys had last year. 10 Aug-20 Aug.

For 2L/3L's? Whenever the professor gets them in. 1L's - middle of January.

Also, for the love of god 1Ls: don't spam Dean Gardner's email about it. They'll come out when they come out.

In Posner's syllabus it said to read the surrounding cases/comments if you have time, should I read these?

I don't think I would bother, honestly. He just pretty much goes assigned-case by assigned-case in class, so unless you have all kinds of free time and just can't get enough contracts, I don't think it's necessary.

How difficult is it to get biglaw (specifically corporate real estate or land use stuff) in the Twin Cities from UChicago? *With ties to MSP and the general region*

Insufficient sample size to be too confident but probably very accessible. A few (which is probably most?) show up to OCI. Good news is you can have backup markets since bidding for MSP isn't competitive.

Thanks! I'm considering transferring and have significant ties to MSP, and was hoping for an answer like this.

Is it normal that only one of my grades is posted so far? (1L here)

Sorry, this is probably a dumb question but it's first grades so nerves, etc.

They normally release them all at once or at least did last year. Sounds like a professor probably procrastinated.

Honestly, with like 2 grades that don't make up that much of your GPA it doesn't matter that much and it's hard to extrapolate. If you have like 2 180s or something congrats, but otherwise you're not really going to have a good idea of your position until after winter q at least and that's still only 50%.

I really thought I did well on one, and okay on the other. Got a median and slightly below median grade. Any recommendations as to what I should do? The only thing I can think of that I could probably change is to spend more time at sample answers. I spent most of the time looking at the memos. Maybe I have missed some of the more obvious points.

I have mixed feelings about my grades

1. I am disappointed because I thought I did really well.
2. I am relieved that I didnt totally bomb.
3. I am confused that I dont know exactly how to do better, I really tried last quarter.
4. I am proud/excited to be in a class of such intelligent people, and the grades really humbled me

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
