Re: WUSTL Recent Grad (and others) Taking Questions
At ASW they said they have 3 or 4 good candidates at the moment. And also, interim Dean Keating said that if they don't end up finding a suitable replacement, that he will be happy to stay on for another year if they need him to.aesth24 wrote:Out of curiosity, any new information about the next dean?

haha washu.... understated and no evidence of sympathy in e-mail about the raising of tuition.
For purposes of your planning, I want to let you know that the Board of Trustees has approved a tuition increase of 2.9% for J.D. students and 2.4% for LLM students for the 2014-2015 academic year. That will make the annual tuition rate $49,752 for both sets of students.

thanks, it's a relief that if I do get some catastrophic health aliment over the summer, it will only add half of its cost to my debt load (and even better, dischargable in bankruptcy!).fl0w wrote:usually lasts until the start of the next school yearnotedgarfigaro wrote:so, I actually have a question...how long does our health insurance last after graduation?

I'm really not joking. WUSTL kids are, on average, rich as hell and they just throw away perfectly good things.

Depending where in STL you live, you can get Ikea delivery for $99 flat rate. If you are getting enough things there it is worth it.scottidsntknow wrote:What are good places to find furniture considering no ikea

We make our own furniture through sweat, blood, and pure perseverance. It's pretty much the Midwestern way. You wouldn't understand.Austinbound wrote:There isn't a Cost Plus World Market in STL either?!! How do ya'll LIVE

When I got my first place on my own, I was working as a carpenter and built a coffee table, chairs, a bar, barstools, and a desk out of plywood and 2x4s from job sites. Because poor.Ricky-Bobby wrote:We make our own furniture through sweat, blood, and pure perseverance. It's pretty much the Midwestern way. There is one. It's in Chesterfield which is outside the StL city limits, but it's not THAT far.Austinbound wrote:There isn't a Cost Plus World Market in STL either?!! How do ya'll LIVE

When I lived in California literally all of my bedroom furniture was scrap wood. It was actually pretty awesome. My bed is still made of plywood, come to think of it.MarkinKansasCity wrote:When I got my first place on my own, I was working as a carpenter and built a coffee table, chairs, a bar, barstools, and a desk out of plywood and 2x4s from job sites. That sounds unreasonable given that our NLJ 250 number was reported at only 18.33%. That means we must have put a massive number of students in either clerkships or firms between 100 and 160 lawyers, and normally these numbers are very low.sublime wrote:The applicant thread is posting 32.6 percent 100 plus firm and fed clerkship combined for c/o 2013. If we somehow managed to do this, than great job to the CSO. But I am skeptical until I see more.

If that is true, than the National Law Journal is severely underestimating how many people we put into Biglaw:
http://www.top-law-schools.com/forums/v ... 1&t=225116
It says we put 55/300 into Biglaw. From the ABA data, our school places 64 into firms of 250+, and another 23 into firms of 101-250. The NLJ cutoff is usually around 160, so over half of those 23 should also be counted in the NLJ 250. So a generous estimate is that the NLJ undercounted the number of our grads in "Biglaw" by about 20 lawyers.
It's been reported before that the NLJ 250 numbers are incomplete and don't count a few domestic firms and any foreign-based Biglaw firms. But this kind of under-counting seems pretty substantial to me.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
Now there's a charge.
