Where are current students at bar review? We're here but we don't know you.

I'm not surprised that the bar review right before spring break was quiet. (Then again, I've been to maybe one all year.)scottidsntknow wrote:Where are current students at bar review? We're here but we don't know you.

Anyone know if WUSTL grants extensions for deposits? The deadline for EA transfer is 4/1 I believe.

I was a regular applicant, but they gave me an extension on the send deposit deadline. I think it was for ten days.bsktbll28082 wrote:Anyone know if WUSTL grants extensions for deposits? The deadline for EA transfer is 4/1 I believe.

Good job, admissions office + whoever greenlighted the spending. The gambit worked. Kind of.

Re: WUSTL Recent Grad (and others) Taking Questions
Cool.
I'm surprised USC dropped that much. They've been a T18 staple for a while. I was hoping we could angle our way in. It's going to be hard to sustain this, though, given what looks like an LSAT drop to 164 based on the LSN numbers for this cycle. We can't afford to give out free tuition to everyone with a good LSAT every year.
We really have to improve our placement stats, though. More people are looking at LST job scores these days while ignoring the rankings, especially the more highly-informed LSAT geniuses that WUSTL targets. I think the smaller classes will definitely help.

LSN seems to show the c/o 2017 with #'s of 3.68 & 166, so I don't know where you are getting the 164 LSAT from... I could be reading lsn.com incorrectly though.

You need to look at the graph. Those median calculations made by LSN are completely worthless. Only one person on LSN has put down "Attending" so far. But you can tell who they're giving acceptances to due to the graph. They're letting in people with a 164 and GPAs as low as 3.2. And people with 165/2.5. No 163 splitters admitted yet except for some URMs.Total Litigator wrote:JCougar wrote:Cool.

Looks like their target medians this cycle are 164/3.5.

Our competition is dropping too, though. Minnesota is clearly aiming for 164 at best, and GW looks like it might be down to 163. Emory's still at 165 for now. Even GeorgeTTTown is dropping to 167 this cycle.

Re: WUSTL Recent Grad (and others) Taking Questions
The school isn't giving out much scholarship money yet this year. Likely will as the cycle gets closer to April or May because they gave so much out last year. It's a shame because they could make a real move.
Granted it's fairly pointless and the school should focus on employment.

You aren't the first person I have heard of this cycle who is a reverse splitter and getting decent money. I have no idea if these means admissions are confident about hitting the LSAT median they want and are going for GPA, or if we are hedging our LSAT median bets with GPA or what. I have faith in our admissions office though, they have done a pretty stand-up job since I have been here.

From what I have heard the overall uni wanted the law school to make a push and gave out big $$ last year and have been hesitant to do so this far. I'm sure when we get a new dean that push will start again.Birdnals wrote:You aren't the first person I have heard of this cycle who is a reverse splitter and getting decent money. Yeah, the one-time surprise money from the main campus was what made it rain on people last year. I still have enough faith in our admissions/endowment that I doubt our rankings are going to take a hit due to medians being sub-par, at least not in the near future. It just seems like we are putting more of an emphasis on GPA this year than years past.

Hopefully they do end up making it rain at least a little :p Also hi Birdnals.Birdnals wrote:Yeah, the one-time surprise money from the main campus was what made it rain on people last year. Nice to meet some of you 0L's at the bar the other night. I learned that apparently I am a dick on TLS but nice in real life, which I don't think is accurate.

I wonder how much money came from not paying Syverud a salary this year. He had to be making close to $700K or something.goldeneye wrote:From what I have heard the overall uni wanted the law school to make a push and gave out big $$ last year and have been hesitant to do so this far. I had actually heard he was part of the impetus to make it rain last year and his leaving was a surprise. I don't think your figure is far off but is slightly high I feel.JCougar wrote:I wonder how much money came from not paying Syverud a salary this year.
